by the way, their heights (from tallest to shortest) go: matt, tom, tord, edd

matt held the door open for tord as they entered the coffee shop. lofi music drifted through the room, floating specks of dust illuminated through the sunlight shining through the windows.

"this entire place reminds me of you." tord commented.

"yep! i love it." matt chirped cheerfully. he grabbed tord's wrist and dragged him to the counter, starting to order a peppermint latte and scone for himself. nostalgia filled tord at the action, a smile reaching his face.

"tord, what do you wanna have?" matt's voice brought him back to reality.

"oh." tord looked up at the menu. "a caramel latte is good."

"mkay. go get us a seat." matt let go of tord's wrist.

nodding, tord headed over to a booth in the corner and sat down. he admired matt from a distance, chin held in his palm and heartbeat ramping up. i missed him so much. i want to hang out with him everyday. i want to live with him, damnit. i wanna kiss him- as the thought went through tord's head, he blushed a dark red and glared down at his lap. no! that's messed up! he has a boyfriend, and i have a... i have a fake boyfriend. shit, i still need to tell tom about the lie.

"tordsie~!" matt sang, sitting on the seat opposite of tord. he slid the drink to him, sipping from his own.

"h- hey." tord stuttered idiotically, kicking himself under the table after. matt smiled happily; it had the same cuteness from high school, tord noted.

"so, tell me about your boyfriend." matt said, leaning in after biting his scone and getting crumbs everywhere.

tord's heart sank to his stomach. "he..." he looked for a lie to make up about tom, soon saying, "he's nice."

matt giggled and rolled his eyes. "well, duh. can i see a picture?"

hesitantly, tord nodded, grabbing his phone and going to his camera roll. luckily, he had only a single photo of tom; it was of the brit posing in front of some sort of statue. he showed the photo to matt almost embarrassedly.

"aww." matt smiled, though tord swore he saw an unidentifiable emotion flash in those sea-green depths. "cute."

"mhm. i met him in college." tord put his phone away quickly. "can i see yours?" realizing how dirty that might've sounded, he said, "uh, y- your boyfriend. edd, right?"

"yep! of course." matt picked up his phone and showed tord his lockscreen.

tord examined the male on the screen; edd was clad in what seemed to be matt's hoodie, seeing as it was purple and too oversized. he had chocolate-brown hair that swooped into bangs and stuck up in places on his head and hazel brown eyes. he looked to be stubby in a cute way. geez... tord could see why matt liked him.

"nice." tord forced a tight-lipped smile and drank from his latte.

"he's great." matt nodded. he slid the brown paper bag towards tord. "want the rest of my scone?"

the norwegian nodded and gratefully took a bite out of it, the flavors exploding in his mouth. definitely reminds me of matt. he flushed a light pink, remembering their kiss in high school.

"hey, speaking of boyfriends... you and tom should come over for dinner!" matt suggested, eyes widening. he squealed and clapped his hands. "yes! that'd be so fun! and we could watch movies!"

"oh- uh-" tord felt his heart drop. why did i lie? "i... i don't know if i can tonight."

matt's expression of joy didn't change. "then tomorrow night at 6!"

tord had no choice; he couldn't disappoint matt! forcing a small smile, he nodded. "sounds good, then."

"perfect!"

"uh, i have to use the restroom." tord stood up, shuffling towards the back. he locked himself in the bathroom and thanked god that it was a single-person restroom, with no stalls. anxiously, he grabbed his phone and dialed tom's number. a groggy "hello?" sounded when he picked up.

"tom!" tord hissed. "i need your help."

"what?" tom sighed. he sounded like he'd just woken up, and with a hangover as well. "i'm not sucking anyone's-"

"that's not it!" he huffed. "okay, so, remember that guy i talked to you about? matt?"

"ohhh, yeah, the ginger? when we were in college he was all you talked about!" tom laughed amusedly.

"shut up," tord rolled his eyes. "so, i ran into him yesterday, and we caught up. turns out, he has a boyfriend."

"yikes."

"yeah. i accidentally might've told him we're dating, to see if there was any reaction. and now.. we have to go to his house tomorrow for dinner with him and his boyfriend."

"tord!"

"i'm sorry!"

tom sighed heavily and muttered something under his breath. "alright. fine. you better buy me some fucking smirnoff, though."

"i will." tord smiled, running a hand down his face in relief. "thanks."

"whatever." tom replied before he hung up.
