Chapter 2

C'mon, c'mon! With everything falling down around me, I'd like to believe-

For some reason, the first thought that popped into my mind when I heard my alarm go off was "I love this song" which was strange since it's usually "Oh, shit".  I was weirdly jubilant when I woke up for some reason which was weird, especially since I'm not much of a morning person. I will literally stab your eyeball out if you even try to lay a single strand of hair on my leg as an attempt to wake me up. Literally

Ask my cousin. It's true.

That means my stepbrothers, Bobby or Matthew, did something to make my day actual ass. And it was a Tuesday. I hate Tuesdays.

"Bobby! Matthew!" I screamed in frustration. I hope they heard my voice screeching through the hallway as it shred their eardrums. I am not in the mood for their shenanigans.

"What?" Bobby yelled back. I smirked as I didn't reply, knowing it'd piss them off as we all got mad when either their mom or my father did it.

"What is it, Annabeth?" Matthew's voice resonated throughout the house, feeding my smirk as it stretched across my cheeks.

In 5... 4... 3... 2... 1.

I could hear their footsteps padding on the hardwood floor getting louder as they neared my bedroom. Their mischievous faces peeked out of the doorway and looked at me in first confusion, then at each other with a secretive smile plastered on their evil faces.

I swear I saw black fire in their eyes.

"Did you guys do something to me?" I snapped. They simply shrugged and looked in the mirror that fully covered my closet door.

My head followed their eyes as I saw my own reflection in the mirror. Holy crap.

My face had the words 'LESBIAN' on my forehead. They are so going to get it.

First of all, why did they feel the need to do this? Where they simply so bored that they thought, "Hey, I know our stepsister's having a bad week because finals are coming up soon and she already hates Tuesdays in particular so maybe we should write a word on her face?" Second of all, did they think they were offending me by calling me a lesbian? There are nothing wrong with lesbians. Love is love kiddos, keep up with the times.

"What the hell did you do to my face?" I yelled at them. As soon those works spew out of my mouth, I mentally smacked myself in the head. It was obvious what they did, why am I even asking?

"If it's not obvious, we put lesbian on your face." Matthew said. Great, my point exactly.

"Do you even know what that means?"

"Well, yeah. It means when you have a girlfriend. And isn't Piper your girlfriend?" Bobby asked. I groaned. Why did my dad marry a woman with two rocks as sons?

"She is my girl friend. She is a girl and my friend. That's how she is my girl friend. A space in between the words girl and friend," I said, "Plus, even if she was my girlfriend there'd be nothing wrong with that. Be respectful for once."

All they could say was to breathe out a simple, "Oh."

"Idiots." I muttered.

"I heard that! I'm telling mom!" Bobby snapped, pointing at me. Not her. He ran to my dad and their mom's bedroom. I could hear part of their conversation. I rolled my eyes, this is so dumb. They have the nerve to write on my face and want to tell on me for calling them an idiot.

"Mom!" Bobby yelled.

"What, Bobby." Marissa replied, clearly bothered. I wouldn't blame her if Matthew and Bobby were my sons.

"Annie called me an idiot!" he screeched, accusingly. Oh my god, can these kids shut the hell up already? I felt like I just woke up two seconds ago.

Frustrated, I shoved the doors open and angrily stomped into the room. I hope I left a trail of footprints.

"I told you not to call me Annie." I growled.

"Annabeth, why did you call Bobby an idiot?" Marissa asked, clearly without a care in the world.

I rolled my eyes. "Because, can you not see my forehead?" I sarcastically asked, pointing to it.

"Oh dear." She said, her eyes looking sincerely apologetic as she rushed over to me, "they did this to my other daughter. She's about your age, you should meet her sometime."

She's actually acting motherly.

"Bobby, apologize to Annabeth." She commanded. She turned around to look at him. With her back facing me, I smirked and stuck my tongue out. He sent a death glare my way.

"I am sorry, Annie." He smirked.

Oh, hell no.

"That does it." I warned, launching at him. His eyes widened and scurried to his mom. Too bad I'm longer than him.

"I told you to stop calling me Annie!" I yelled, tugging on his hair. I wanted to laugh as a thought of Bobby with patches of hair missing popped into my mind, but I forced it back down, the boys wouldn't take me seriously if I did.

"Annabeth! Get off your brother!" my dad yelled.

"Of course, Fredrick." I snapped. Of course he would side with them.

"Don't you dare-"

"Don't I dare what? Huh dad? Have you ever realized that you've completely forgot about me? Even Marissa has been acting more parently to me than you have been. Ever since mom died. Or left. Which of course you won't tell me. And I don't know why." The words spilled out of my mouth as if a dam just broke. My eyes stung as I glared into my father's guilty eyes but I didn't let my tears fall. He wasn't worth them.

"Annabeth..." he said.

"Don't Annabeth me. I'm not falling for it this time." I said, turning on my heel to my room. He always tried to do that, coax me into forgiving him every time we have an argument. Especially since each argument is over the same thing: my mom.

I ran to my room and tried to wash the word off my forehead.

After nothing worked, I had to go to my best choice.

"Pipes, it's an emergency." I said on the phone. I hope I sounded like I was about to die so she understood how urgent this was.

"What's wrong?" Piper asked.

"Code 23-19." I said, rushing to collect my stuff.

"Holy crap! Come over right away." I grabbed my backpack and phone and ran over to my bike outside. There, I biked over to Piper's house with was only five houses away from mine.

I got the spare key from under the flower pot and unlocked the door.

"I'm so glad I'm here." I said into the house. My voice echoed a bit since it's usually just Piper home, her dad's always busy. I made eye contact with a pair of kaleidoscope-looking ones and sighed in relief. I knew she would help me.

"I still can't believe your brothers did that," she said as she came down the stairs. "I mean, I do because they are Bobby and Matthew but-" she stopped.

"Can you just take it off before we get late to school?" I asked. It was already 7:50 and school started in ten minutes.

"Yup. Sorry. Blabbering again." she rolled her eyes, smacking her forehead.

She cleaned off the letters with a few swipes of a towel with this liquid thing on it (I don't make-up, I don't know this.)

I took a look in the mirror and sighed. Back to normal. I gave myself a mental note that I owe Piper a favor now. "Oh my god, thanks so much Pipes."

"You're welcome. Let's go!" she said.

We ran out the doors with our backpacks and jumped in her car.

School, yay!
