EMMA'S APARTMENT

“Killian.” Emma called him. “We need to discuss this.” she went after him when he disappeared to the bedroom.

“Discuss what, Swan? The fact that I simply kissed you... on the cheek?” he shrugged. “Are you crazy?”

Emma grabbed him from his shirt. “The fact that you've got the wrong impression about me.” she said, looking him in the eye. “I don't want you to think I am a whore who has sex with everyone and just wants to... to fuck you!” she shouted in a whisper, careful for Abby not to hear her.

“Alas, love. I think I have the right impression about.” he argued. “And you seriously think I believe this about you?”

“Why, yes, I do!”

Killian's eyes went wide and his face fell in seconds. His expression went from angrier to softer, and he couldn't even look her in the eyes. Did he really made her think that he believes she is a whore? Was he really that bad at building a new friendship?

But then again, all he did was kiss her on the cheek. Do people not do that?

Then he remembered — she still had her walls up, even if she let him into her house. She opened up to him, but not completely. Maybe she was afraid that if she revealed her inner self to him, she would have to rely on him too much — and she didn't want that. She wanted to be independent and free to do whatever the hell she wanted.

And Killian got that. But on the other hand, he wanted to be able to rely on her. He needed someone who understands him and doesn't judge him in his life, and so did she, he knew it.

But he was going to wait for her to open up completely. As long as it took. The one thing he knew was that he would always be there for her whenever she needed it, just like when she saved his and his daughter's life. Isn't that what people who live in the same house do? Care for each other?

He gave her a sad look and walked away. On the inside, he was too angry and disappointed at the same time to talk about it — he couldn't do it now. He couldn't believe she was angry at him for this stupid reason.

Emma sat on the couch and covered her face with her hands — probably because she regretted what she just said to him. She made it seem like she was pissed at him for kissing her, but this wasn't the real reason.

The real reason was the fact that she realized she wants him so bad in her life, she wants to be with him. But she's scared of commitment. Especially with someone she doesn't even know for long — her feelings just scare her away.

Ironic the fact that she wasn't scared to get in a burning house to save him, but she is scared to get on with her own life.

Two hours passed, or maybe three, and they hadn't talked at all. Emma stayed on the couch watching Netflix, and Killian was goofing around with Abby, playing with the Legos and the little dolls — even though Abby wasn't one for dolls.

Killian saw Emma sitting all alone, and he decided to approach her once his mind was clear. He sat next to her on the couch but she didn't turn to face him.

“Are you alright?” he asked her. His voice was lower than before, he wanted a calm conversation.

She didn't take her eyes off the TV. “I'm fine, thank you.” she said quickly, because she knew he wanted to talk.
