NEW YORK CITY HOSPITAL

“Just tell me where she is.” Killian rushed into the hospital, asking any nurse and doctor he saw. “What are you hiding for me? It's been hours!”

He was about to punch everyone in the hospital, he wasn't getting any information about Emma's condition and it tore him apart. He couldn't live with it, not before she knew how he really felt about her — now that he knew it.

Familiar hands held him back before he managed to actually hit a doctor. “Whoa, whoa, Killian.” David appeared right behind him. “It's not going to do you any good if you murder half of the hospital.”

Killian turned to look at him, with a desperate look in his eyes. “Dave, what do you know?” he asked and he was about to fall onto his knees and beg him to say something.

“All I know is that she's still in surgery.” David held his hands up in defense and Killian buried his face in his hands. “I need you to calm d—”

“You're lying!” he interrupted him. “What are you hiding from me? I don't even know if she's okay!” Killian tried to punch even David but he stopped him.

He grabbed his arms and led him outside of the hospital to talk. “Nobody's lying to you.” David said. “She's really still in surgery and I'm not in charge, I don't know anything. I will tell you when I do, okay? Now tell me what happened.”

Killian buried his face into David's neck, something he really didn't expect. “It's all my fault.” he said and David tried to comfort him by patting his back. “I screwed up big time, mate.”

David rolled his eyes, as he knew he had done something really wrong. “Okay, spill it. What did you do?” he asked him.

“I... I...” he tried to talk, but couldn't find himself able to say it. “I told her I would leave her... and I would, if this didn't happen.”

“Oh, you are such an asshole.” David hit his back.

“I know!” he admitted. “I just need to talk to her... let her know I never left her, let her know that I'm still here.” he was sobbing.

“Oh man.” David sighed. “You are head over heels for her.”

Killian furrowed his eyebrows. “What?” he said, as if David was saying something he didn't already know. “I'm not in love with Emma—”

“Oh, please!” David interrupted him. “Your eyes are transformed into hearts every time you look at her!” he shouted and went back inside.

Killian followed him. “I've known her for four months!” he argued, trying to defend himself.

“It's called love at first sight for a reason.”

He didn't speak. He didn't want to accept all his feelings for her, the exact way he felt about her. And most of all, he didn't want to admit them to others. Because, in some way, it would make it real, and keeping it to himself was something he was used to do.

He followed David down the corridor with his eyes. As he was about to get into a room, he shouted. “Can I, at least, see her?” he asked.
