"Ge, I can't open the door!" Zach bit his lower lip. His palm paled, twiddling the doorknob. "Why is this room locked?"

He remembered it crystal clear. The window sill where he had seen Little D was outside the storage room, located on the third floor of the school's main building.

"Move to the side," Xander instructed. He forcefully twisted the knob, but it only shook in response.

There's no other way. He stepped back and lunged his shoulders at the door, the door remained. He tried it again for several times until his joints ached, but he still failed. In the last attempt, he gathered all of his strength on his right foot and kicked the door; the door still towered over them, pushing everyone to their limits.

"What's the use of all that muscles, Xander? Only for display?" Sabrina grunted, tugging her hair. She took off her stiletto heel and hammered the doorknob; the knob only squealed like a cub. "Damn stiletto!" She rocked his head in frustration until a hairpin fell onto the floor.

"Ge, let me try!" Zach grabbed the hairpin and shaped it to a straight wire. He inserted the pin into the knob and cleared his thoughts.

Insert it and fill the hole. Feel it as you go deeper. Pump it hard until you lose control. Zach recalled what Papa Chen had taught him when he had accidentally locked their bedroom without available keys.

"Clink!" The door unlocked.

Zach galloped inside only for his lungs to burst out, coughing.

Specks of dust swirled around the room as the colloids of light penetrated through the window. Cobwebs hung on almost every corner of the warped ceiling with spiders waiting for their prey. Stacks of worn boxes piled up, overshadowing the discolored wallpapers.

"Little D!" Sabrina, followed by the boys, maneuvered herself in the maze of boxes until she reached the window. She immediately tried to open it, but it thwarted. "What the fuck!? The door was locked, and now, even this?"

On the sill, Little D whimpered as he paced back and forth. The strong air current folded his ears along it.

"I'll break the glass." Xander grabbed a coconut husk, used for polishing the floor.

"Xander, wait! Little D will—" The sound of the shattered glass quickened Zach's heartbeat.

Little D flinched back and slipped his hind legs. Fortunately, the strong current supported him back to the sill.

"Sorry," Xander apologized as he threw the husk on the floor. He breathed out, seeing that Little D remained on the sill.

Without a time to waste, Zach removed all shards attached to the window and outstretched his hands to reach Little D. However, his hands failed to reach the little puppy.

"Little D, come to Lao Zi," Zach pleaded as his eyes softened.

Little D continued to whimper from the sound of the shattered glass. His eyes latched to the ground below him.

Xander and Sabrina took turns to reach Little D, but only to attain the same results as Zach's. The distance between the edge and Little D presented a significant obstacle.

What will I do? What will I do? Zach curled his arms over his head when an idea crossed into his mind.

"Ge, please remove your clothes." Zach's eyes appeared wet. "Meimei, please find any long stick for me."

Xander hurried to take off his jacket, revealing his buff upper body. His nipples erected as the cold air dampened his chest. He was lowering his trousers when Zach interrupted him, "Th-this will be enough."

Sabrina surveyed the room until she caught sight of a wet mop. She dashed towards it, grabbed it, and detached its head, giving the handle to Zach.

"Ge, please make an improvised net with your jacket and this handle. It should be as strong as what we had when we go fishing." Zach rushed his every word. His eyes darted between the locked window and Little D.

The wind became harsher as seconds went by. It howled like a wolf calling his vicious pack, causing Little D to retreat into the void at the end of the ledge.

Together with Sabrina, Xander tinkered on his hands and followed what his little brother had said. He tightly tied the sleeves of the jacket onto the end of the rod and stretched the coat five times to ensure that it was securely attached. Sweat poured on his face as he concentrated; muscles tensed on his abdomen as time passed.

"Didi, what the hell are you doing?!" Sabrina exclaimed.

As Xander finished the net, his gaze shifted to the window sill.

Zach wobbled on his feet. The people below gaped at him as he rose on top of the ledge.

Calm down, Zach. Calm down. You are not afraid of heights. You are here to rescue your Little D, Zach thought as he spread his arms and walked inch by inch to his puppy. His insides quivered as he looked down, seeing the dead leaves flurried through the sea of people.

"Someone send help!" One girl yelled from below.

Everybody was on the edge of anxiety when the sound of the sill cracking wrecked Sabrina and Xander's sanity.

"Zach! Come back here! It's dangerous!" Sabrina shook the iron bars on the window.

Xander dropped the net and forced himself through the bars, but they hindered his broad shoulders. "Didi! Come back! Now!"

Sabrina desperately tried to follow Zach, but her breasts bounced back every time she shoved herself on the way outside.

Zach stayed still and bent his body. The image of the now minute people, looking at him, churned his stomach. "Little D, come here."

The wind calmed down. Little D slowly trod towards Zach.

But just like the eye before the storm, a sudden gust of wind blasted through the building.

In the blink of an eye, Little D and Zach toppled over.

They fell.

"DIDI!" Sabrina screamed.

Zach, with his blue eyes wide open, felt something enveloped his stomach. The net that Xander improvised caught him hanging in midair.

Xander's adrenaline shot up as Xander held the rod, panting.

But there was Little D—falling, limbs spread apart, blue eyes slowly closing.

In front of Zach's dread, Little D lost his consciousness. He was descending on the now, still air.
