Hennessy's Pov

it's at least two in the morning and i still couldn't sleep. i was tossing and turning the whole night and i would constantly check my phone, as if someone was texting me most of the night.

i start contemplating whether i should text sammy or not. i mean, why not, i had nothing better to do.

me: sammmmmmm

after about five minutes waiting, i figured he was most likely sleeping so i just started scrolling through instagram thinking that it would help me fall asleep. i was indeed slowly getting tired by the minute and was ready to go to sleep until my phone vibrated.

i look at my phone and see that it's a text from sammy.

sammy: hey

me: did i wake you up? i'm sorry.

sammy: oh no, i just was watching netflix, i just checked my phone and saw your message.

me: oh, i was just bored i just figured i would text you.

sammy: awee it's nice that you think about me.

me: hardy, har har, i wasn't thinking of you. i'm pretty sure you were the last source of entertainment for me.

sammy: look at that, you're cute AND feisty. i like it.

me: i look like a fried potato, what are you talking about?

sammy: shut up, no you don't.

before i could respond, i get a facetime call from sammy. i answer it and waited for the call to connect. i quickly get up and put on my hoodie and pull the strings so the hood covers half my head and my chin.

i use a scrunchie from my wrist to put my hair in a messy bun. once the call connects sam's face pops up on the screen. once he sees my face, his first reaction is to smile.

"what're you smiling at?" i ask, and he shakes his head.

"nothing, it's just, why are you covering your face? it's just me and you here. i don't want you feel insecure."

"i'm not, i just think i don't look my greatest right now. i looked fried potato, i told you that". i say in 'duh' tone.

"shut up, hennessy, i'll prove it to you that you look just as good with the hoodie off.".

"your wish is my command." i huff, slowly taking off my hoodie, so i was now wearing only a tank top and some shorts.

"there's that nice brown skin." he smiles. "you look good."

"whatever you say. . ." i shrug, trailing off. he stared at me for awhile and i decided to speak up. "so, uhm, what're you staying here for?"

"i was with my family during the summer and now that that's over, i'm here."

"that's cool, i moved down here from atlanta. it took me lots of time to realize i needed to take this big leap to just move."

"it's good, otherwise, i wouldn't have met you." he smiles.

i take the bun out my hair and flip my hair to the side and nod, adjusting the way i was laying down.

"do you maybe want to come down to my room? i can't sleep and i'm tired of watching movies by myself."

i hesitantly shake my head. i wanted to come, but i didn't know what kind of direction that could take. there are a million possibilities.

"i won't do anything unless i have your permission to. i promise."
