Chapter 2- A Day at Work

I hurriedly put on a shirt and ran over to the bathroom to get ready. Picking up my brush, I squirted on some tooth-paste and started brushing my teeth.

Oh God, I was late again! I can never get to work on time, I can't believe I over-slept. That was not supposed to happen but I guess I was just tired...

Geez, even to me it sounds like a lame excuse. I couldn't make myself think that my manager was going to accept that because even I couldn't bring myself to accept that. I wasn't tired, I usually sleep early but I just can't wake up early.

Ugh, why does this keep happening to me?

I rushed out of the bathroom and quickly picked up my converses from the floor, taking a seat on the bed and shoving them on. Time's like this, I wish I had super-human speed or something.

Although I was hired because my manager decided that I was fast enough to wait tables, I still don't believe it. I mean, yeah... I may run a bit fast but... that doesn't really prove anything. Those track racers are much faster than me.

I mentally smacked my forehead for thinking about track racers while I was in a rush. I quickly stood up from my bed and went over to the drawers, grabbing the keys to my apartment. Better keep it locked.

I ran into the living room and grabbed my phone, then bolted out of my apartment. After locking it and shoving the keys into my pocket, I ran down the stairs and out of the building. I just hope I don't get fired!

"You're fired," My manager stated, giving me a hard stare.

My eyes widened, no... this is what I was dreading, I can't get fired. No one wanted to accept me as their employee, I was lucky to have a job here and to get fired...? It was too risky, I needed the money. She can't fire me.

I gulped, "N-Nelsie, y-you can't... I... I promise I'll be on time from now on-"

She held up a hand, "I've had enough of your excuses, you're always late. You're never on time, I can't keep doing your job for you just because you're always hanging out with those mutts." She wrinkled her nose in disgust.

I felt anger building up inside me and my other heart started beating faster, but I ignored it. How dare use that term for my friends? I clenched my fists. I wanted to say something, I should've said something... but that won't help me in this situation. I had to stay calm.

My job was at stake here, even though I badly wanted to defend the wolves, I couldn't. I couldn't and I hated myself for it.

I just hope that they would understand, they should know that I would never think of them like that. Ever. What she says doesn't really matter.

My hearts started beating wildly in my chest... I had to calm down. Calm down, I repeated to myself.

"I'm really sorry ma'am. Please, just give me another chance. I'll..." I swallowed, trying to keep calm. She raised an eyebrow at me expectantly, I closed my eyes and sighed, "I'll work over-time."

I opened my eyes to see that she was smiling in triumph, that wasn't going to help her because I wanted to slap that smile off of her face, "Well, I guess you should get to work then," I forced myself to nod, "You'll work eight hours each day, am I clear?

I stared at her in disbelief, my hearts' beats finally going to their normal pace. Eight... hours... that would barely give me enough time to meet up with the wolves, I can't... I have to meet up with them! I can't just...
