*SPOLIERS*
One of us is lying by Karen M. Mcmanus
This is the first book I have read by Karen M. Mcmanus, I do really enjoy her writing style.
to sum up this book in one word: powerful.
This book is about four students who are suspects in a murder case of a fellow classmate, Simon, who runs a gossip app and posts peoples secrets. Basically a straight A student, Bronwyn. A sport star who must get that scholarship to impress his father, Cooper. The student who is dealing drugs and is struggling at school, Nate. The homecoming queen who is in a extremely unhealthy relationship with her boyfriend, Addy. Each one has a secrete and a motive to kill Simon. It turns into even more of a mess when Bronwyn gets outed for cheating on a test. Cooper gets outed for being gay. Addy cheated on her boyfriend . And Nate has being dealing drugs while on probation (A/N I think that is a stupid secret cause he is known as a drug dealer throughout the whole book why not his mum Karen???). People get wrongly accused and then they all mange to figure it out and who the murder is, Simon. (I SAID SPOILERS) he committed suicide. and then its a happy ending (kind of).
I am going to be real for a sec I saw the murder plot twist coming from a mile away its quite obvious about half way in the book. Still a good read though.
The book is written in the four murder suspects point of views so we see everyones thoughts throughout it all. Which I found quite enjoyable.
The book does deal with some heavy topics like depression abusive realtionships and so on. I would recommend reading this when you are in a good mental state as it is quite a emotional read. and you will get attached to characters. just saying (COOPER IS MY GAY BABY AND I LOVE HIM).
The whole concept of the characters kind of remind me of the breakfast club which Is one of my favourite movies so bonus for me.
if you enjoy Sherlock and shows like that's it is a good read.
