Ashley POV
Suddenly, Kaylee pulled my hand and said, “Look!”
Frowning, I looked up to where she was pointing to the other side of the cafeteria and instantly found a pair of dark brown eyes boring into mine. I looked at that person. He looked like my age, probably few months older, and strikingly handsome. Dark hair arranged in a quiff, crooked smile on his lips, broad shoulders and narrow waist and definitely about 5’9… all these description speaking only one word: sexy.
Blushing at my rash thought, I averted my eyes to the other guy he was standing next to. A mop of curly brown hair was set up roughly on his head. His eyes were emerald green and a wide smile was planted on his lips, causing cute dimples to show on either side of his cheeks. He was lean and shorter that the other guy, but no shorter than 5’7.
I was brought back to myself when my impatient best friend yanked at my hand again few times, none of them gently. Scowling, I asked, “What?”
“Let’s go talk to them!” she gushed excitedly.
My eyes widened. “Are you insane? We don’t even know them… how can we talk to them?”
“Like this,” she rolled her eyes and towed me towards them. Sexy and cute or not, I definitely didn’t want to intrude in their talks by being an intruder.
They looked up curiously when we stopped ri9ght at front of them. Was my eyes clouded or did they actually looked… smug?”
“Hey,” Kay smiled, extending her free hand; one still gripped mine tightly. “I’m Kaylee Anderson.”
The cute guy took her hand and smiling widely, said, “Harry. Harry Styles.”
He didn’t leave her hand. I rolled my eyes and looked up just in time to see the brown-eyed guy doing the same. “Zayn Malik,” he grunted.
Still holding my best friend’s hand, Harry winked at me and said, “Nice to meet you too.”
I realized I hadn’t introduced myself. I subtly released my hand from Kay’s grip and cleared my throat to calm all the butterflies that were fluttering excitedly on my stomach. “Ashley Lohan,” I said.
“Well, Ashley,” Harry mused. “You’ve got a wonderful friend.”
Kay blushed and I laughed out aloud. Harry was definitely someone I would love to hang out with. But I wasn’t so sure about Zayn. He seemed like a moody type of person. Hope he had a good sense of humor.
Harry finally let go of Kaylee’s hand and I sighed quietly in relief. I was scared that Harry would never let go of her hand and even after the break and we would be late for class. I really thought that. Literally.
I saw Zayn giving me an amused smirk. He must have heard me sigh. Good looking or not, he looked like he had a great ego to carry on his shoulders.
Harry looked at Kay. “You guys free tonight?”
“Actually,” I started. “We are not-”
Kay stomped on my foot not too gently and silenced me with a warning glare. While my foot throbbed painfully, I heard her say, “Not really.”
At that moment I wanted to kill her. She still had to do her history essay and hadn’t I made study plans with a stupid girl named Kaylee Anderson?
“Great!” Harry said in an exulting voice. “How about a night out? We’ll have fun.”
Those made Kay hesitate. Despite how she seemed, she was not a wild person like me. Rather, Kay was usually quiet and a real bookworm, burrowing her nose in every story book her hand touched; spreading that contagious book to me as well.
“Where do you live?” Zayn asked.
Kay seemed to be in deep thought, so I said, “At the apartment near Fashion Avenue.”
“So we’ll wait outside Fashion Avenue for you guys and go,” Harry said. “Are you up for it?”
“That depends on where we are going,” Kay said cautiously.
Harry and Zayn both registered her thoughts, but they merely laughed. “Trust me on this, Kay,” Zayn smiled at us. “We are not going to take you guys to a strip club or anything, it is rather a busy and only pub that we have seen in this time.”
“Okay,” Kay replied.
“Hey,” Harry said excitedly. “We could call the others.”
I raised my eyebrows. “Others?”
“Our other friends,” Zayn replied. “They’re great.”
“Hey, Zayn,” Kay said suddenly, noticing for the first time the white t-shirt he wore under his unzipped leather jacket. “Cool t-shirt.”
I looked at it. Right in the middle was written ‘Cool Kids Don’t Dance’. Zayn shrugged not too casually, a huge smirk plastered on his face.
Yeah. Definitely an ego problem.
And why did all the devastating guys have to smirk?
My thoughts were interrupted by a shrill right. Lunch break ver.
“See you guys later,” Harry said and after smiling at us, they both walked towards building 3.
“Kay,” I interrupted her dreamy look. “We’ve got Spanish now. Let’s go.”
She looked at me, her eyes sparkling. “This is good.”
“I know,” I whispered.
Looking back at Zayn, I couldn’t deny.
