Monday was a mess. Jeon Jeongguk stormed into a class, disturbed a grumpy-looking teacher who probably hates him now, and caused a scene. All the staring, later on, wouldn't let him concentrate either.
He's been getting smiles and greetings all week but no one has actually had a conversation with him. It looked like a girl from math class was once trying to start a conversation but she just walked away mid-sentence and left him looking like a fool. All of that has brought some of Jeongguks old thoughts back to his mind. That everyone pities him because of his grades, the lack of social skills, or maybe everyone just thought he was funny-looking?
Anyway, his mind was filled with more than just college stuff. Every day when he was going to college he passed by the church. Some of the days he'd see the sandy-haired guy from a distant but today it looks like he was waiting in front of the open gate for Jeongguk. Raised heartbeats were normal for Jeongguk when he was about to approach someone, but this time it was making him slightly breathless.
"How is it going?" He asked with a nod towards the church
Jeongguk took the hint and headed towards the building with the elder.
"Okay, I guess. I lost my room though because I was late to sign in. But I got myself an apartment at the end of the road over there." he slightly pointed to the side.
The elder didn't seem surprised at first but at Jeongguks last sentence his eyes lit up.
And it was like he morphed from the charming guy he was into a little kid.
"No Way! I should have known the new guy everybody is talking about is you! I also live in that area just a little to the left across that little shop"
All Jeongguk caught from the elders babbling was that people were talking about him. Who knows what they had been telling the elder. Maybe about how lonely he was in college? Or maybe they talk about the fact that he live alone.
And still, as much as Jeongguk tried to decode the elders' actions he couldn't figure out why he still talked to him and showed him his beautiful smile.
...
The sandy-haired boy had to close the church at night so he couldn't go home for hours in case someone came. Jeongguk who really enjoyed the elders' presence sat on a bench in the corner for all those hours and just watched the elder clean up and answer all of Jeongguks silly questions.
"Can I call you Taehyung even though you're a year older?"
"sure"
"Taehyung Is that your natural hair color?"
"Yes"
"Do you have a pet?"
"Yes"
"Do you do this every Friday?"
"yes"
"Do you think I'm cute?"
"ye-
What?"
And so a silly question filled the whole room with tension.
"Have you always been Christian?"
"yes, Catholic"
And as much as Jeongguk was clueless about religion he had heard something about Catholicism when he was in high school. And he couldn't find a reason for why he wanted to ask if the elder wanted to know why, but that didn't stop him.
"Does that mean you can't be gay?"
The elder froze for a second
"Whatever. It's time to close the gates, let's go."
Jeongguk obviously didn't dare to ask further.
