"Wanna hang"
: "Idk, Maybe. Im super busy right now"
As Barry Allen checked his phone on summer morning, he saw messages from his best friend Iris West Allen. As central city's finest hero, Barry was swamped, from catching thieves to sentient gorillas. Barry's life was a one man job, when he got hurt, he fixed himself. When his suit broke down, he himself had to repair it . And finding out identities of criminals, their strengths and weaknesses, their location, and hacking into the CCPD criminal database, you never saw Barry Allen catching a breath.
For Barry, no one knew his secret identity, not even his best friend Iris West, or his friends Cisco Ramon and Caitlin snow, whom he used to ask for medical/technical advice every now and then....
But it was not hard for hide his identity from the world. It was painstaking to hide it from iris.
His breath trembled every time he was around her and The Flash came up on the news. He looked at her in flashtime -- as time slowed, he looked into her eyes and wanted to tell her -- tell her that he loved her-- and tell her that he's the flash.
But "we're just friends" Iris always said.
It was a fine morning when iris texted him that he's always secluded, and she didn't know what he spend his time doing anymore, ever after he woke up from his coma.
"busy with CSI stuff" Barry replied to Iris' text, uncomfortable lying to her
"😑" was iris' reply - she knew her best friend was lying - she had a tempestuous feeling that Barry was maybe involved in the storms of dating - maybe he was seeing someone, and maybe he just didn't want her best friend to know about it.
"Why isn't he telling me...I wouldn't mind if he dated" "I've only wanted him to meet the right girl" thought Iris as she unlocked her phone to write Barry another text message -
"Why aren't you being honest with me" texted Iris, anxiously waiting for a reply.
"I'm NOT lying. Work has been demanding after my nine months coma rest"
"Yeah but that doesn't mean you cut your friends from your life, Bar" "You've changed"
Barry Allen was just about to write a reply when a notification popped up on his phone - a news report from his hacked CCPD database appeared. "radioactive bomb located on 133rd street"
"133rd street, Barry thought to himself...." Isn't that where....Joe WORKS !!
Barry quickly called Joe on his cellphone, to warn him about the bomb that was about to burst. "joe, you need to get out of the building now, its an emergency"
"what Bar, really, how do you know ?! I'll get out right after I use the bathroom okay ? I love you, and I'll see you in a few....KABOOM"
Barry was frightened, he thought of his amazing adoptive father, and if something happens to him.."
he quickly wore his suit- raced in a heartbeat down to 133rd street. Dolorously, when he reached- the office complex in front of him was up in flames.
"Joe ?!" Flash thought as he raced across to find his adoptive father.
Hope found his heart when he saw his adoptive father lying in the rumbles.
"joe, dont die please"
"Flassh, said joe "How do you know my name"
frightened to his core, Barry took off his mask and said - "i'm sorry Joe, i tried to warn you, but you had no reason to believe me. If only I told you I was the flash" "if only I was fast enough to save you.."
"I'm sorry Joe, for not telling you, I should've let you know - I should've told all of you"
Somehow, it was universe's grace that Joe West survived, along with a few lying in the rubble.
And somehow in the midst of it, someone with exceptional reporting skills and daughterly instincts was watching, someone who came to rescue her father, although she knew that the Flash would.
She was near the bombed site so she came as fast as she could to save her father. But when she arrived, she saw a man on the floor with his arms wrapped around a man in a red suit.
"Barry ?!!?!" Iris was tantalized when she saw her best friend, hugging her father, but in a red suit. Her best friend was the flash ?!!
She froze, for one she was relieved, that her dad was one of the few who survived in the bombing of an 30 story office complex.
And, as Barry Allen turned his head, he saw the shadow of the love of his life - standing their as his biggest secret slowly revealed itself.
When iris regained her senses, she ran towards her father- who smiled towards her and then lost consciousness. Paramedics were everywhere - and flash helped them slowly transport the bodies into the ambulances.
As the scene was cleaned up, both Barry and iris sat in the midst of the rubble looking at each other.
Why didn't you tell me, Bar ? I had no idea, I thought you were distant because you were seeing someone, I had no idea you were.... a superhero.
"I'm sorry iris, I should've told you guys. I wanted to protect my identity so you guys don't get hurt. But hiding this has been hard, especially from you"
"i hope you forgive me"
"Is my dad gonna be okay", Iris replied.
"Yeah, he's alive, he just has a broken arm. Paramedics will help him and we'll go to the hospital in no time. He was lucky that he was in the bottom floor of the building"
"You didn't answer my question Iris, do you forgive me"
"Yeah I do Bar, I guess I haven't been honest with you either"
"what....what does that mean"
"I haven't been honest with you about my feelings. The truth is Barry, we're not just friends. I have developed emotions for you"
"so when I told you about my feelings at Christmas..you had feelings too"
"yeah I did, Bar.. I just wasn't ready to reciprocate them.
And it was as if that moment was frozen in time when they shared a moment with each other's hearts, and a kiss that had waited a lifetime to happen.
