Everyone knew the plan was to try and lure the villains out during the sports festival. Izuku was told to compete and make it to the semifinals before losing. Izuku had taken off like a bullet during the first round. Even Lida had a tough time keeping up with his quirk. He'd made it through the giant robots unscathed. He had completely hurdled over the canyon, surprising everyone. He'd given pause at the minefield though, he knew how much even the smallest explosion could hurt. In his pause, Todoroki and Bakugo had managed to take the lead. He grit his teeth and shot off like a rocket, staying ahead of the explosions. He caught up to his two classmates fairly quick. Once the stadium came into view he put on an extra push and passed them, finishing in first place.

The second round had been a little tougher. He had Tokayome, Uraraka, and Mei from the support class. It was a cavalry battle that he honestly wasn't sure they'd win. Mei's inventions were good but Uraraka couldn't use her quirk for very long, plus Tokayomi's Dark Shadow was at his weakest. He knew he had to win he just didn't know how. He wasn't exactly a team player, having been on his own so often. He'd managed to hold out till almost the very end when Todoroki managed to snag his tag. Dark Shadow had managed to grab a majority back but they'd barely just made third place.

The preliminaries had been the toughest by far. He watched match after match until it was him and some general studies student, who had a mind control quirk. He knew it was voice activated but that didn't help him at all when he'd started trash talking Bakugo. He'd managed to get one good hit in before his mind went fuzzy and he was told to walk out of the ring. He managed to break his hold by breaking his finger, rushing at Shinsui before he could fuck up again. He won the prelim round and found his opponent to be Todoroki.

He'd been told to throw the match so that was what he was trying to do. Subjecting his body to massive strain to make sure everything worked. He forced his quirk past 100%, breaking bones and tearing ligaments. He knew Recovery Girl wasn't going to be happy. She'd just healed life-threatening injuries a few weeks ago. Todoroki came at him with everything he had, and Izuku responded in kind. He was constantly dodging ice, he'd had yet to even use his flame and that's when it hit Izuku, He hated his second quirk. That just wouldn't do, he was already throwing the match so why not help out.

"Why are you here Todoroki? Everyone's giving it their all, but you. You say you want to be number one well it's never going to happen without using your full power."

"I won't use his quirk, I'll succeed using only my mothers." Ah, so that was it, hatred for his old man.

"Are you your father? Or your mother? Last I checked you were your own person, doesn't that make it your quirk to use as you please. Not theirs?" Todoroki looked taken back by the remark. Izuku knew the moment he'd understood as his eyes widened like saucers. "Thought you wanted to be a hero, show me who you really are Todoroki."

"I want to be a hero, one even better than my father."

Izuku watched as his left side became a raging inferno and he couldn't help but smile. They each activated their quirks to the max. Cementos and all the other heroes rushed forward trying to stop the match but it was already too late. The pressure was dropping for the ice while the wind started howling because of the sheer force of Izuku's quirk. Todoroki sent a mountain of ice at Izuke who dodged it easily with his speed. When Izuku got close enough he let loose a raging inferno and hurled it at Izuku, who put all his power into his right arm and flung it forward. Cementos managed to make five cement walls but the force of their powers crumbled them like dust, the explosion filling the stadium with debris.

"Eraserhead what is wrong with your students!! They're all monsters." Yamada Hizashi shouted through the mic. Aizawa couldn't believe the damage his students had done. The entire Arena was decimated, and the stadium walls were cracking.

"You aren't telling me anything I didn't already know, they're all problem children especially Midoriya Izuku." Izuku had been blasted into the stadium wall, leaving a large crater in his wake but still remained conscious. Todoroki rushed over to assess his injuries. Aizawa sighed and got up to check on his students.

Todoroki helped Izuku to the infirmary where they were both scolded for being so reckless. She healed a majority of Izuku's injuries before deeming the rest could heal on their own. He'd broken all of his fingers, dislocated his right shoulder, fractured his wrist, cracked six ribs and a femur. She was not impressed, to say the least. Todoroki had frostbite on his right side, second degree burns on his left, a couple broken ribs and a sprained wrist. She just couldn't believe what they were putting themselves through. As she finished healing Todoroki Bakugo burst into the room looking seriously freaked out until he saw Izuku was fine.

"Deku, what the fuck were you thinking? We're supposed to lure them out not kill yourself in the process!"

"Kaachan, I'm fine. It was worth it, and besides, if they show up I can still fight."

"That's not the point!! I just got you back." Bakugo finished in a whisper. Izuku stood and limped his way over to his only real friend and wrapped him in his good arm.

"Kaachan, what you see here is nothing compared to what I've had done to me. You have nothing to worry about, I'm not going anywhere. You've always been such a worry wart, guess some things never change."

"Don't Kaachan me Midoriya, no matter how longs its been you've still hardly changed. Risking yourself to help someone along the way. You may have thought you'd given up being a hero but me and IcyHot here are your proof otherwise. You could have died and for what? To show IcyHot that it was his quirk and no one elses." Izuku glared at his best friend but knew he was right. No matter how much he'd given up a part of him still longed to be a hero.
