Demon and a City?

After a few hours of walking, it gets dark. So, I decide to take a rest. But before that, I think I should make a fire. I punch a tree down and break it apart to gather firewood, and I find some stones to surround my fire. Before long, I start to miss my home. Not long after that, I start to hum 'Hooked on a Feeling', since I have nothing better to do while I set up the fire. As soon as my fire pit is up, I put my hand on the pile of sticks and light it up. It makes a big-ass fire, and the warmth washes over me like a wave of pure comfort. While it's still hot, I lie down next to it. I curl up to maintain my warmth and try to go to sleep.

Before I'm able to catch any shuteye, I feel something wet press against the back of my neck. I jump to my feet and put my arms up. I look left, and I look right. I look in front of me and I look behind me, but nothing's there. Maybe it was just my imagination.

Of course, right as I think that, a something cold and wet presses against my shin. I look down and see a small orange wolf with green eyes pressing its snout against my exposed leg. I kneel down and pet the creature. Its fur is soft and warm. As I take a better look at it, I notice that the wolf has had its right eye gouged out. It is most definitely a runt as well, since it's barely a foot in length and height.

I tilt my head and ask the wolf, "you lost little guy?" The pup does not reply, and just continues to accept my pets by rubbing its face and head all over my hand. "Aw, you're a really cute one. You're really warm too... How about you stay with me, does that sound good?" The wolf perked its head up almost immediately. It obviously understands what I mean. I wonder if the pup has been tamed?

I just shrug it off, lying back down and going to sleep. The pup presses against me and does the same. I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

As I wake, I find that the pup is nowhere to be seen. It probably was taken by a larger predator or it wandered off for some food. Either way, it's probably better off without me. I stand up, brush the dirt and whatnot off of myself, pack my shit, and get going.  Surprisingly, nothing has attacked me during my venture other than some large predatory animals, like bears and shit. They provided a heavy meal, so I can't exactly call the encounters unfortunate. At the same time, they aren't very tasty. Whatever gets me through, I guess. I continue my trek towards civilization. At least, hopefully civilization and not another weird-ass situation that involves me fucking or getting fucked.

As though it was a sign from God himself, I can hear humanity calling. By that, I mean there are car noises in the distance. I look at the sky and shout with all my might, "finally, you're doing some good for me big guy!" I sprint towards civilization, running through thorns, brambles, and other nature shit as I finally reach it. A backed up road through the woods. Seems like people are trying to get the fuck outta dodge, so I guess that means I'm headed back towards the city. I mean, if everyone's leaving, then the bars are probably unattended. Free drinks and not hearing people speak, my two favorite things. It's almost like all my dreams are coming true. That means something totally horrible is gonna happen when I'm at the peak of my desires. I can feel it, author.

Anyway, I decide not to concern myself with that and continue towards the city, while everyone else is heading away from it. On my way, I hear bits and pieces of conversations.

Things like, "I hear there's an albino fucker fighting back there", "didn't you hear, there's some kind of guy who looks like he came straight out of '300' there", "I heard there was a teenage girl in a grey hoodie with samurai swords on the front line", or "no you got it all wrong, it was a short woman with long blue hair on the front line." Shit like that. Personally, it's of no interest to me, but hey, he gotta do something to get that word count up there, don't he?
