Classes ended faster than expected and it was now time for lunch. Charles would usually sit with the football players but he decided he would rather sit with Cheryl and her minions to avoid getting any more sympathy from Reggie and the team. Technically, just Reggie and Moose because the rest of the team were too scared of Charles, seeing as they never seen this side of him before and don't know what he's capable of. Charles, with his tray in hand, sat down at Cheryl's table and began eating. As Cheryl gave her brother a smile, Cheryl's minions looked Charles up and down for two reason, 1. The Blossom kids were very far from ugly and 2. He would never sit with them, even when he was sick, so why did he sit with them today? "Hey Charlieeeee," Ginger dragged. "It's Charles to you, you imbecile," Charles said with a glare as Cheryl chuckled to cover it with a cough and sent a fake glare towards Charles. Charles groaned, "I'm sorry. How can I help you today?" "N-not to be mean but why are you sitting here with us?" "None of ya business." "If you can't tell us that then at least tell us who do you plan on taking to the dance?" Tammi, or Toni or Tina, whatever her name was, asked. Charles couldn't just leave her hanging but Charles didn't know who he was taking and he couldn't let those girls know he was dateless or else they'll try to go with him. "Um, I was going to take Josie but we'll see." He answered. Cheryl looked to another table and stood up. "Come Char-Char, we have to introduce ourselves to someone." Charles stood up and dusted himself off before walking with Cheryl. He saw Archie stand up and look his way causing Charles to send a head nod.
"Hey Kev, EC." Charles said to Kevin and Betty with a smile and a genuine laugh to the nicknames he had for them. "Hey CB." "Hey Charlie Brown." Kevin and Betty said with a laugh, along with Charles. Cheryl smiled a little, it has been kinda rare hearing her brother genuinely laugh today and in front of people. Veronica seductively eyed Charles, he was really good looking up close. "Veronica Lodge, I'd heard whisperings." Cheryl spoke trying to get Veronica's eyes off of her brother. "I'm Cheryl Blossom, may I sit? Betty, would you mind?" Cheryl asked, sitting beside Betty as Charles stood. "So, what are you three hens gossiping about? Archie's Efron-esque emergence from the chrysalis of puberty?" Charles eyebrows raised, not exactly knowing what that meant at all, which caused Kevin to snort at his confusion. "Extracurriculars. Weatherbee wants me to sign up for a few." Veronica answered, not noticing that Charles saw her and Betty's slight, well obvious, eye communication. "Cheerleading. You must. I'm senior captain of the River Vixens." Cheryl exclaimed, a smile upon her face which Charles loved seeing, especially when she talked about something she loved. "The best captain they could ever have." Cheryl's smile widen at Charles' comment. "Is cheerleading still a thing?" Kevin snarked. "Is being the Gay Best Friend still a thing?" Cheryl snarked back. Charles gave both of them raised eyebrows and challenging eyes as they cowered under his glare. "Some people say it's retro, I say it's eternal and iconic." Cheryl changed the topic, knowing she shouldn't be mean to her brother's friends anymore. "And what do you do while she cheers?" Veronica asked flirtatiously at Charles, who saw straight through it. "Well, I play football. I would be captain but I can't. Not right now at least." Charles trailed off which Veronica noticed and her not wanting to push him away she began talking about the previous subject. "Well, at Spence, I sat at the top of the Elites' pyramid. I'm in. Betty, you're trying out, too." "Of course, anyone's welcome to try out, but Betty's already got so much on her plate right now and being a Vixen is kind of a full-time thing." Cheryl began but when she felt her brother's burning gaze on the side of her face again, she simply just continued talking but began being cautious of what she said. One time when they were younger, even though Charles loved his sister and brother dearly, he denied talking to them for at least a week when they pushed Betty on the ground. It was the only time he ever was mad at them or stopped talking to them and Cheryl never wanted to go through it again. "But open to all! Follow me on Twitter and I'll do the same. My handle is@cherylbombshell. His is @charlesshallblossom." She said, getting up. When she noticed Charles wasn't following, she turned around. "Charles, aren't you coming with?" She asked. "Yeah, just give me a few." He replied while she nodded and walked away as he took her previous seat besides Betty. "Okay. Go ahead and hate on cheerleading, but if Hipster Prince Harry- "I'd love to be a cheerleader. It would look great on my college applications. But last year, when I tried out, Cheryl said I was too fat." Betty spoke as Charles gave her an apologetic look for his sister's comment. He was there that day when Cheryl said that to Betty and the way Charles stood up for Betty, made Cheryl stop, or at least for a while. "Too season 5 Betty Draper." Kevin said, but when he saw both Charles and Betty looking at him unamused, he quickly saved himself. "It was a great line, but not at all true." "Well, you're a total smoke show now." Veronica encouraged which Betty shrugged her shoulders too. "I mean it. As hot and as smart as you are, you should be the Queen Bey of this drab hive." Betty blushed at the comment as Charles smiled at her and wrapped his left arm around her body, causing Veronica to turn away from the sight. I thought she liked Archie, she thought. "Look, if you want to be a River Vixen, I'll help you prep. I have moves." She tried again, ignoring the sight and thoughts of whatever Charles and Betty may have had or has. Charles raised his eyebrows, something he commonly did, at the girl underneath his arm, questioning if she'd try out or not. "Okay. You know what? Show me your moves." Betty answered, causing the three to smile widely and Charles to give her an actual hug before telling her good luck, bye to the trio then going back to his table, with the thought of the new girl on his mind.
