"Hurry up, run faster!" Lance yelled as he ran ahead of his best friend, Hunk. "Lance, buddy. Slow down." Hunk was out of breath trying to keep up with the spunky teenager.

"Why are you even in a rush? You hate school." It didn't make sense to Hunk at all as to why Lance was so excited for something he usually dreads.

"Because today is the beginning of a great school year. This year is going to be great i can feel it." Lance says sprinting now. "You said that last year! Please, wait up!" Hunk was trying to catch his breath.

"Just hurry up man!"

Hunk holds his breath and starts running after Lance, who was five feet ahead of him.

Lance and Hunk enter the school doors, welcomed by yelling teenagers. "Where's Pidge meeting us?" Hunk asked still out of breath. "Umm, i don't remember." Lance scratches the back of his head, embarrassed.

"I'm right here, you dinguses."

They turn around the face Pidge, who has a displeasing look on her face. Her arms crossed and balanced on her heel.

"How did yo-" "I already knew you were going to forget where to meet, so i just waited for you guys at the front doors. But you still passed me." Lance snickers. "well, it's hard to see someone so short." He lets out a snort, until Pidge kicks him in the leg. "Being short means i have an advantage to kick you, so it's fine."

Lance pouts and rubs his leg, while Hunk giggles. "Are we going to class now or what? What's your guys' first class?" Pidge says, ignoring Lance who's obviously in pain. "I have History, room 213." "Me too. How about you Lance?" Hunk says turning back to the boy. "English."

"Well, looks like we don't all have first period together. We'll see you at Lunch, bye Lance." The two walk off, leaving Lance alone. "Great start, to a great year." He mumbles to himself, sarcastically.

Lance puts his arms through his backpack and starts walking to class.

He walks into the class not seeing anyone he knows. He rolls his eyes, and takes a seat at the back. He takes out his books, and turns to see a boy. "Hey." He warmly smiles at the boy and waits for a response. The boy looks up, and looks back down, completely ignoring what he said.

Lance thinks it's kind of rude, but he proceeds to attempt again. "Hello?" He repeats himself but gets no response. "Don't expect any words out of him. He doesn't talk to anyone." He turns to see a girl with blonde hair. He completely freezes, he usually approaches the girls first. He calms down, and throws on a smirk.

"I don't mind. As long as you'll respond to me." He sends a slight wink towards her. She giggles and reaches out her hand. "I'm Allura." Lance reaches out and shakes her hand. "The names Lance." He says flirtatiously.

"Don't try it. I'm not into that, or guys." She laughs.

Lance's brain stops working for a second.

"Hey, you okay?" She shakes her hand in front of his face. "How can you just tell anyone that?!" He practically yells. She smiles softly.

"Because i'm not ashamed of it. I don't care what others think."

"Damn, people could take some hints from you." He lightly chuckled. She let out a soft laugh and sat back in her seat. Great the only girl who talks to me isn't into me. Lance sighed and opened his binder. There was a little crack noise, and he turned to see the boy who ignored him had dropped his pencil.

"Here, i got it." Lance leaned down to grab the freshly sharpened pencil, and handed it to the boy. "There you go." He flashed him a warm smile, sitting back up. The boy grabbed the pencil back mumbling a small, "Thanks."

Lance turned to face the teacher, who had just arrived. Lance groaned knowing class had to start.

The bell rang and everyone got out of their seats, chatting with their friends while walking out of class. Lance headed for his locker which was on the first floor of the school. He was about a minute away from it when he heard muffled noises from the bathroom. Lance being the curious type of person he is, went to investigate.

He opened the door, and saw the same boy from class being mocked and threatened by some jocks. The boy didn't seem to be upset, but Lance definitely could tell he was feeling something of the bad sort. Lance knew he shouldn't interfere and that it is not of his business, but he couldn't help his kind heart. Lance took a deep breath and headed their way.

"Hey, what's your guys' problems?!" He spoke as he went straight in between them and the boy. Lance was a tough person, but he was also terrified. He didn't want to get punched. "It's none of your business, get out of here." One of the guys said, getting closer. There really was no point of going closer to Lance, due to the fact that Lance was taller than him. "If you didn't want any issues with other people seeing, maybe you shouldn't do whatever the hell you're doing in a school bathroom asshole." Lance usually isn't one to raise his voice, but this guy was pissing him off. "Listen, you don't know what happened here so how about you back off." The other guy argued. "I don't need to know. All I know is that you're sending threats to him and obviously he's not very fond of you, so shut your mouth and go." Lance yelled, hurting his throat a bit, but he didn't care. The guys scoffed and left the bathroom, cussing under their breath.

Lance turned around to face the boy. "Hey, you okay? I know that's a stupid question since you just got threatened and shit, just wanted to check." He sent a soft smile hoping the boy would at least acknowledge him. Instead he grabbed his bad off the floor and walked out of the bathroom. Lance raised an eyebrow, and hurried next to him. "Hey, I asked you a question." He kept walking faster trying to get away from Lance, but he wasn't having it. "Hello? Not even a thank you?" Lance was getting fed up with this guy, but he still followed him. He didn't know why he was, but he was. "I just helped you_" "I don't need your help. I'm perfectly capable of dealing with my own issues, thanks."The boy snapped. Lance stopped dead in his tracks, while the boy continued walking in front of him. That was the first time Lance had ever heard his voice. Lance was kind of upset that the boy yelled at him for helping, he seemed like a jerk. But something about how the boy's energy felt was intriguing. Lance was lost in his thoughts until he heard the bell. "Shit! I got distracted." Lance starting running to class, completely forgetting about his locker.
