* Past - 4 years before the fall of Dalmasca *
Rabanastre 700 Alto Valendiano,
Rabanastre four years before the fall of the kingdom and the death of Raminas, during a rainy day, more precisely one afternoon of a day like so many Princess Ondine stood on a terrace of the highest towers of the palace.
More precisely, one of the areas of the building that were still undergoing renovation. The place was quite quiet, for some time the restoration work had been interrupted due to the rainy season.
Ondine found that place very suitable for her, because she was far from the court and the continuous gossip that constantly circulated about her and the royal family.
The young princess was thinking about why they had given her so many names, and moreover all related to the goddess of water. Her father had told her that she had been born during one of those rainy days, and had been named in honor of those deities.
Ondine often wondered how her mother should have been, she had often asked her father or other people, but strangely no one knew how to answer them well. They only told him that he was the daughter of a courtesan, but from the way many people told him, it seemed that he sounded more like a lie than the truth.
Someone had even said that she was not even an illegitimate daughter of a concubine, but only of a poor orphan girl adopted by her majesty since the only surviving heir could not survive and also saw the advanced age of the king, give birth to a another heir was almost impossible.
The sky was almost black, covered by large black clouds, which did not even pass a ray of sunshine, very soon on Rabanastre would have shot down a violent downpour.
The mood of Princess Ondine that day was not the best, indeed reflected exactly the weather conditions of that day.
The young woman loved the warm and sunny days typical of the desert climate of Dalmasca unlike those days so dark and gray in the rainy season.
The princess threw a glance at the immense city of Rabanastre, regardless of all her problems, did not even seem to her that the war was overwhelming them.
Meanwhile throughout the palace, the court and especially the guards seemed to be in turmoil, Princess Ondine was gone and did not seem to be anywhere.
Vossler was almost on the verge of losing patience, for several hours he could not find the princess and it seemed that this had evaporated into thin air. The knight had the nerves on edge and considered the girl a real unconscious little suited to court life.
While Basch, a friend and comrade-in-arms of Vosler, was quiet and quite stoic in the whole situation so agitated. The captain, approaching Vossler put a hand on his shoulder, letting him know that he would take care of finding the princess.
Vossler shook his head asserting to Basch that she was spoiling the princess too much and that this was not a good thing, given her position. Basch replied that he knew it, but it was also true that the opposite was true, that he was the only one to whom the princess really listened beyond the king and the royal family.
Calm down Captain Vossler, Basch went looking for the princess, most likely the captain already knew where the girl was hiding.
Ondine stood blissfully contemplating the view of the capital dalmasca, when she heard a few steps approaching her and a tinkling noise of armor. He already knew who it was.
The girl turned suddenly towards Captain Basch, smiling softly at him, not at all surprised by his presence, but was rather happy to see him again.
