Chapter 1.

I'm 22 years old and my mom has come to the decision that it is time for me to move on. By that I mean that she has decided to send me to live at Myst. It is this small sector and apparently my mom knows the leader of the sector and today is my transferring day. I know my mom did this only because she feels that I won't be safe at Greenwood, the place I called home for 22 years until now. People who have rebelled against Greenwood thought that they could just go ahead and make life impossible for everyone there. Ever since I have learned a few survival skills. Those rebels will attack when it's least expected and after my last confrontation with a few of them my mom was furious and afraid that I wouldn't make it out alive the next time it happened.

So here I am waiting in line. I'm inside Myst Hall. Were I'll be staying. The receptionist has been talking to someone for like the past hour and since I'm the only other person in line I decide to take a seat. The leader, Lisa Emerson said that I would meet her today at Myst Hall and my mom dropped me off here and we said our final goodbyes. So am I happy to be here? Well I certainly don't think I belong here and I most definitely dreaded leaving my mom behind. Who will protect her now? Why couldn't she come? Well she's not allowed to transfer because she has already made two transfers and the limit is 2 transfers in your entire life time.

"Mia Foster?" I heard someone call my name and it was not the receptionist. I turned around and saw a lady about my mother's age. She had a wide and genuine smile. I'm assuming this is Lisa Emerson. I stood up and walked towards her.

"Yes. That's me." I say and before I know it she's hugging me.

"It's so nice to meet you. I'm Lisa Emerson." She say letting go of me and offering me a handshake. I smile back.

"Pleasure meeting you too. So what's going to happen now?" I ask curiously wondering what will happened to me now that I will live here. Life will seem very different now that I don't have to be watching out for my life every minute.

"I will introduce you to some people and give you a tour of this hall that you will be staying at." She says enthusiastically. She must have noticed how unhappy I looked because she gave me a look of sympathy.

"Sweetie I know this must be really hard for you but you are safe here. I hope that one day you can call this place home too." She says and I smile back reassuring her that I am okay.

"Thank you so much Mrs. Emerson." I uttered.

"You are going to be okay nothing will happen to you here." She said.

"I know."

"We should go find everyone so that I can introduce you to them." Said Mrs. Emerson leading the way. We walked down a hall near the lobby. It was pretty dark but I was able to follow Mrs. Emerson

It was a long walk I had no clue were I could possibly be taken. It's hard to believe that I will be living here for possibly the rest of my life. I miss my old friends. What if no one likes me here? What if I don't fit in? I don't think I would be able to last a day here. I might be safe but these people might not even accept me. They might hate me. Or even worse they'll just make my life miserable.

I have to stop thinking so negative. It can't be hat bad. I'm just overthinking it. These people might even be nice. I just need to relax.

Finally I saw light at the end of the hallway. We were reaching the end and I heard loud noises. Like a crowd of people were waiting on the other side. We reached the end and I stood in front of a room full of people. It was like a small dining hall. Everyone stopped dodging what they were doing when they saw me. The room was finally silent except for a few whispers that I heard.

"Everyone this is Mia and she is the newest addition to our community." Said Mrs. Emerson. I was so nervous they didn't say anything. They were still quiet. Then suddenly they were all clapping and smiling.

"Welcome to Myst Mia!" Said a red head who had approached me. She seemed very happy.

"Thank you." I said a little shyly. She must have noticed that.

"I'm Rebecca by the way. Don't worry about being shy around me or anyone else here. You'll come to love these people soon."

"It's nice to meet you Rebecca and I'm sorry it's just that this is all very new for me." I said genuinely telling the truth.

"Well I hope we can be friends. So where do you come from?"

"Greenwood." I say and she looks surprised.

"Wow I have heard about what's going on over there. I'm so sorry and it's very unfortunate for he people of Greenwood." She says and it really seems like she genuinely means it.

"It's fine but my people are very strong." I say and I'm suddenly interrupted by some guy. "What's going on here?" He says cheerfully.

"Mia this is my boyfriend Michael, Michael this is Mia." Rebecca introduces us. I politely shake how hand.

"Mia the new girl. Right. Well welcome to Myst. I hope you are enjoying yourself." Says Michael

"Yes I am thanks." I say to him.

"So Mia where have you been assigned to stay at?" Asked Rebecca.

"I think it was NorthEast Building."

"Well that's great because we are actually staying there." Said Michael.

"Lisa said something about me giving you the tour. So do you want to head out now?" Rebecca asked. She and Michael seemed so happy together.

"Yeah."
