Juliana's POV:
I got a bad feeling about the city as soon as we walked in. The streets were trashed and broken. Miserable people milled around like zombies everywhere. Bayron held her gun close to her chest and threatened anyone who got close. Meson slid behind me.
"I don't trust her." She whispered.
"Well it's either go back to WICKED or let Bayron help us escape."
"You don't actually trust her, do you?" Meson looked worried.
"Dude she saved us. And don't go around saying that cuz she has a gun and I bet she'll shoot you if you try n' start a fight." I didn't want Meson to get hurt, but I also wanted to get as far as possible away from WICKED. I watched Emily pick up pebbles and throw them at the mindless crowds. We stopped in front of tall building that had all of its windows smashed out.
"Get inside!" Bayron ordered, standing by an empty door frame. I ducked inside and felt someone bash my head. Desperately looking through my splotchy vision, I could see shadows come forward and drag us away.

"Julie!" I heard someone call my name. Prying my eyes open, I could see my friends unconscious and tied to the wall next to and across from me. There was a lantern swaying on a pole in the middle of the room. I looked up at my wrists to see bloody ropes cutting into me. I pulled against the ropes, but they wouldn't give.
"Don't bother," the voice said. I glanced around and saw Meson. She give me a weak smile through her bruised eyes. Her wrists were as bad as mine, sore and limp.
"I already tried..." she shook her head. A shadow flicked against the light.
"Meson..." I tried to pull myself up but someone struck my knees with a baseball bat. Genesis's face appeared next to Meson, holding a knife to her throat.
"Shhh. Make one more move and I'll feed her to my pack." He grinned mischievously at me. Anger flared in my chest.
"Look grandpa, I'm trying to be polite, but if you move that knife a centimeter closer to her I will tear you apart." I spat, receiving a swing to the stomach by the baseball bat. Genesis just laughed. I felt myself heat up, practically on fire. My ropes started to burn. Pulling once more against them, they came apart. Ashlyn, who was hung next to me started to wake. She kicked at Skylar and I could see the rest of my friends pull on their restraints. I lunged at Genesis, and shot fireballs from the palms of my hands. He dodged by disappearing back into the room he came from. I rushed to Meson.
"Are you okay?" I grabbed my dagger and cut her ropes, not noticing the small fire growing next to me.
"Yeah thanks," she shoved me annoyed "I told you not to trust those people!"
"Well it was a nice learning experience." We helped untie our friends and re-grouped.
"I think I got a bruise." Skylar held his side.
"Well, if you'd woken up properly the first time I kicked you, I wouldn't have had to do it four more times." Ashlyn sneered at him. The fire was spreading to our side of the room. The nine of us gathered at the door. It was boarded up, so Anna and I pulled and kicked at it until we could crawl out. Standing up in the darkness, we felt cool wind blow on our backs. Soon the others made their way out, and we looked up at the building. Fire licked at the windows as it burned up the shadows.
A sleek figure charged at us frantically from down the street. Anna quickly drew her bow and shot them. The arrow hit their foot, but they pulled it out and yelled.
"Hey! What are you doing!" It was Bayron.
"What are we doing? What are YOU doing!" Anna yelled back.
"I got word a building on this street was on fire, so I came to help!" Bayron limped over to us, her long black hair tucked behind her ears. She examined our group.
"Where's Genesis?" Worry spread across her face.
"Dead hopefully." I gave her a cold stare.
"Did you start this?" Bayron waved a hand at the burning building, tears clouding her eyes.
"Not intentionally. He should of watched where he swung his knife." Bayron shook her head and tears dripped down her face. Theo slipped through the group and up to Bayron.
"Ronnie..." she comforted her. Bayron seemed to stiffen. She narrowed her eyes at me, and shook off Theo's arm.
"Genesis told me of a place he was going to take us when we'd escape. And now it is my job to take you. We better get moving." As she spun, light flickered off something on Bayron's ear. It was an earpiece. She limped off down the street, followed by my friends. Meson's suspicions were right after all.
