The Region of Love

It's ocean as far as his eyes can see right now. The deep blue water hiding what mysteries lie beneath the surface. The only signs of life are the incredible creatures called Pokémon that swim and play happily together. Jumping out above the horizon before splashing back into the water.

The world of Pokémon is as close to a peaceful place than you'll ever get. Of course not everything is bright and cheery all the time but without the dark things in life you can't feel the light and happy things to their full extent. If that makes any sense.

Our hero is one that has seen both sides of the spectrum many times. Often considered to be the one to light the way through the darkness. Who is he?

He is Ash Ketchum. His raven-like hair that comes out from under his signature red and white hat that protects his auburn eyes. Under that are two "Z" marks that are unique to him, he's special. His mother Delia always makes sure he has a fresh new outfit for his next journey.

This time it's a dark blue, short-sleeved sweatshirt that has white outlines. But still with his black undershirt and black fingerless gloves. Then he's also wearing blue training pants and red running shoes. (Kalos Outfit)

Ash is hoping for some extra luck this time around since he just recently turned eighteen years old. Now that he's on his sixth major region journey, he's bound to have that breakout league run. Or he'll choke like usual.

So why Kalos this time of all regions available to explore?

"Did you know Kalos is called the region of love Ash?" Alexa asks the boy.

Alexa is a travelling news reporter who works for a Kalos online news company. She has brown hair that curls over her head with one tuff of hair that extends out into a single thick curl. The young adult wears a pink and black athletic shirt, grey jeans and brown boots.

She met Ash in Unova and brought up the idea of him taking on the Kalos league. Ash isn't one to turn away an offer so now they're on a plane headed to the city of light.

"I don't know anything about Kalos," Ash sweat drops.

"Right," Alexa giggles. "But keep that in mind okay. It's about time you get a girlfriend."

"I know," Ash groans. "My mom gives me a lecture about that every single time I visit her."

"Don't forget then or I'll write a news report about it," Alexa warns to Ash's horror. "Enough of this though because you're close to taking the first step of your new journey."

"Let's go!" Ash cheers along with the yellow rodent Pokémon on his lap.

"Everyone please fasten their seatbelts," The pilot's voice comes from the speakers. "We are preparing for landing."

The landing gear can be heard extending out from the bottom, along with the click of seatbelts. The atmosphere of the cabin is filled with a lot more eagerness to reach the destination than it did mere moments ago. Everyone is fidgeting as the desire to get up and move around increases exponentially.

Lumiose City is now in full view of Ash and the rest of the passengers. The sun reflects off the tall grey skyscrapers ahead with the lighter coloured Prism Tower rising above them all. Taxis slowly make their way along the outside and dull concrete road. With the thinner white bricked streets giving a brighter aspect along with channels of water.

No better place to start your journey than the heart of Kalos.

With a large rumble and a long smooth ride down the runway, the plane lands and is easily guided the unloading area. The exiting door opens and light floods the darkened cabin. Ash wastes no time getting to the front with Alexa trying to keep up behind him.
