Her breath caught in her throat.
"Why do you parade about in the blood of our people?" She wanted to ask. "Why do you fling it about and flaunt it like some sort of trophy?!" She wanted to scream. But she couldn't. Her throat had closed up.

The edges of her vision turned dark as she slipped away from the crowd and into an alleyway.

She leaned back against the brick wall and sat down, clutching her chest as she tried to breathe.

"Why am I here?" She wondered. "Why did I volunteer to go here when I can't even stand what I see here?" Though, she didn't ponder those questions for long because she was too tired. She had enough information for today. She would have to. She couldn't stand anymore.

After catching her breath and collecting herself, she stood up, dawned her cloak's hood, and headed through the parade, to her lookout house.
