"Would you think it dishonest of me, if I told you I don't know?!"
Esme looked into his hazel eyes searching for the truth or the lie they would hold. She had been told all her life that eyes gave away everything. And yet his gave away nothing. He was easy on the eye however, she had to concede. Dark curly hair, thick brows and the shadow of a possibly two days beard delineated his rather very light skinned complexion. From his stately eyes down to his pert long nose, typical for a man of Rwandan origin, and lavish mouth, nothing had ever looked more nonpareil. 
"You haven't answered me Miss Mutoni."
"Yes I would Mr Shyaka. You don't strike me as a man who does anything without an intent."
"There's always a first time for everything."
"And yet am convinced this is not it."
He chuckled at her reply, taken aback by her honesty and confidence in her astute intelligence.
She didn't share in the amusement however. She darted her eyes about the room in an effort to hide her agitation from him.
Alain watched Esme try to free herself from his hold but he effortlessly riveted her to the spot. Uncertain of why he did it.
Uncertain of why he wanted to stoop down and take her full meticulously glossed lips between his own.
"Have dinner with me tonight?"
"If there's..
Interrupted by a knock at the board room's door, she struggled once more to be unfettered and to her surprise, he put up no resistance to stop her this time. Uttering nothing further, she picked up her purse from the large glass table and headed  for the door.
Esme's heels rhythmically clicking across the marble floor was the only sound that filled the room as she hurried out and the way her body swayed was the only image Alain Shyaka would be seeing in his mind for a long long time he reckoned.
