Allison woke with a start. Her alarm clock beeping on her nightstand. She hit the snooze button even though she knew there was no way to fall back asleep. She didn't even bother to look at the numbers on the clock and decided she should get up and get ready for school.

This was the third time this week she had the nightmare. Every time it happened to a different kid, but still the same story. Some kid around the age of thirteen is outside, when all of a sudden some bizarre thing will happen. They get pulled into the ground.

She didn't know why that dream kept reoccurring. All she knew was that each time it felt as if it was real. Like it was actually happening. Then right as the ground would swallow them, she would wake up in a pool of her sweat.

She decided not to look too much into it. For all she knew the entire thing was fake. Maybe she was just jittery because her birthday was less than a month away. She was so excited, her parents said that once she turned fourteen, she could finally date! And let's just say she had a few boys in mind....

She decided on wearing her flower button-up blouse, black leggings and her favorite pair of black leather boots. She grabbed a piece of toast on the way and was about to walk out the door to school, when her mom stopped her.

"Hey sweetie, in a rush to be somewhere?"

She turned to her mom and said, "Yeah, I promised Alix we could walk to school together and I decided I would show up early."

She looked at me and smirked. "You will be very early. Do you know what time it is Allison?"

I replied saying, "Yeah, 6:30. Just like any other day. Why is that so funny?"

"Because it's 3:30 in the morning."

I looked at her with big eyes, "Why was my alarm clock going off that early?!"

Then it hit me, the one person that would possibly be devious enough to change my alarm clock. The one person that could push my buttons to the limit and still push them more. And he came strolling into the kitchen as if he owned the place.

"Morning princess. How'd you sleep?"

"God Adam, you are such a brat."

Adam my little brother. He was quite smart for a kid his age. He was only nine, but it seemed like he had an infinite knowledge of ways to annoy me.

He looked at me and smiled, "Well, with a sister as easy to prank as you, who wouldn't act like this?"

I looked at him and decided he wasn't worth the fight. I decided I would head out anyways. I sat on the doorstep and watched as the neighborhood started to wake up. Parents on their way to work. Birds starting to chirp as the sun tried to shine through. It was 4:30 when I checked my watch and decided I would head to Alix's house.

This seemed like it would be a day like any other.
