Chapter Four: Maci POV
Owh, my head. What the hell happened last night? I open my eyes forcefully. Everything is a blur, but I see pink poke-a-dots every where. I must be at Marissa. It's the only place I know that has pink poke-a-dots every where. Well, except for the Pink part of Victoria Secret. Which makes sense considering the girl practically lives in there. Even got a job there. She's defiantly a girly girl no doubt about it. Either way I love her.
I rub my eyes to get my twenty-twenty back. Ah, there we go. Perfect circles of pink everywhere. I sit up and look to my side. Marissa with half her body off the bed. She's still in her outfit from last night.
Swinging my legs off the bed I force myself up. Stretch. That feels better.
Walking down the hall I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I stop. Oh, hell nah. I run my fingers through my hair or at least try. I look a mess.
My make-up is smeared across my face, my hair looks like a bird made a temporary home and... what is that? I run my hand across the red splotch on the side of my neck. A hicky. Simon. Looks like I'm wearing my hair to the side today. Great.
I continue my walk to the kitchen and try and straighten out my hair. I don't even notice Marissa's step brother, Charlie and his friend sitting at the counter. I don't know the kids name. And who cares. I ignore them and head straight to the refrigerator. I grab and apple and a bottle of water. I turn around and they're starring at me. Creeps. I wonder if this is what it felt like for Alex last night. When I was starring at her.
"Would you boys like sumthing?" I say raising my eyebrow.
"Yeah. For you I go look in the mirror. You're burning my eyes" Charlie's friend just smiled at me. Odd kid. Kinda cute though.
I smile at the kid and looked directly in Charlie's eyes, "there's no one here for me to impress" I look Charlie up and down. He's not bad looking. He has dirty blond hair that's spiked. His muscles are quite a sight. He plays hockey. I believe he's the star. After I finish looking him over I say, "especially you Charlie."
The kid tries to hold his laughter in. He coughs in attempt. Charlie shots him a glare before he turns back to me and simply says, "go take a bath M&M".
Oh, guess I didn't mention. 'M&M' is my nickname. Maci Martin. I got it when I was in sixth grade and it just kinda stuck. It's not just for my initials either.
It all happened in sixth grade. This kid. Roger Tempt. Well, anyway he sat next to me in class. One day we had a test and he hadn't studied. At all. He asked me if he could cheat and I said "Sure, but it's going to cost you". The next day he brought he a bag of M&M's in return for letting him cheat. After everybody heard about what happened whenever anybody needed help from me they'd bring a bag of M&M's as payment. I don't do that 'business' anymore, but like i said the name just kinda stuck.
I smiled at both boys, took a huge chunk out of my apple and walked away. Charlie was right though. I do need to take a bath.
******
I walk down the steps to my room. The house is completely silent. Nobody's home. Or so I thought.
Turning the corner and there's Alex. Sitting on my bed. She looks up at me and smiles. I didn't even think she knew how to get to my room. I smile back. "hey".
"Hey, M. Can we talk?" No. I looked at her face to see if it was urgent, but I couldn't see it. She was looking in her lap.
"Yeah. What's up?"
"Last night..." I grinned at her and sat in the chair across from my bed. I so want to hear this.
"What about last night?"
"I saw you at the party. And... you say me." She looked up at me, then continued. "M, I'm a lesbian." Ha. No shit. She waited for me to say something.
"I kinda figured that out."
"Are you mad?"
This wasn't like Alex. To care what people thought. Especially what I thought. "No."
"Oh?" She sounded confused.
"Why would I? It's not my business." It really wasn't.
Before I could even object she had her arms wrapped around me. A hug. A hug from Alex. I folded my arms around her to return the gesture. She released. Thank you! She turned and walked away. Halfway up the steps and she turned back to me. "There's a party tonight... Do you want to come with me?"
A party with Alex? It could be fun. "Sure."
With a smile she said, "we leave at eight" and that was that. She closed the door.
A party with Alex. I hope it's not a lesbian party. I'm not being rude. I just like guys. So a party with all girls wouldn't be fun for me. Plus I'd be like fresh meat. I smile to myself.
Flopping on my bed I shut my eyes. One o'clock and I'm already exhausted.
