Septemeber 23.Journal entry one. I'm Audrey Parker and five days ago I died. After that, things got really weird.
I was working as usual and serving people their food.
"Okay," I mumbled to myself.
"I have got one Sigourney Weaver. That's for you. And one Will Smith. Can I get you guys anything?" I asked the people I was serving.
"Green Martian shake? Blood of Alien smoothie?" I continue to ask as they shake their heads.
"You...no. We're good, thanks," the man mutters.
"Are you guys here for the Crash Festival?"
"Yeah. Can't wait," the women says.
"So, does your family come from Roswell?" she continues.
"Just four generations," I answer.
"Really? Uh, does anyone in your family have some stories about the U.F.O Crash or..." the man trails.
"I guess it would be okay to show you guys this," I whisper before handing them a fake picture, my sister and friend Maria pass me with a small smirk on their faces.
"My grandmother took this picture at the crash site right before the government cleans it up," I explain dramatically.
"Do people know about this photograph?" The women pushes.
"I know about it. And now you know about it."
"Wow."
"Whoa."
"I'm gonna be right back. Don't show that to anyone," I say seriously, trying to scare them.
"Yeah," the man stutters.
"You are so bad, girl," Maria chuckles along with my sister.
"Oh, and Max Evens is staring at you again," Liv adds.
"No way. Liz, that is so in your imagination," I argue while standing behind the counter and look where Max was sitting with his friend Michel.
"Max Evens? This? No. Uh-uh. It's not..."
"And with those cheeks, preciosita tan linda," Maria says while squeezing my face.
"Maria, no, okay? I mean, and even if it were, I'm going out with Kyle. He's steady and loyal and he appreciates me," I list off.
"Sounds like you're describing a poodle," Liz scoffs and Maria nods agreeing, they take their trays and go to their table to serve the customers.
"Audrey!" Maria and Liz shout out to me.
The two men that Maia was serving suddenly stood up and started pushing each other around. All of a sudden one of the men pull out a gun, the other man begins to wrestle with him for the gun and somehow it ends up pointed at me. The sound of a gun going off and a pain shooting through my abdomen then me falling to floor happened so slowly as if time was standing still, I couldn't register what was happening until it did.
"Audrey," Liz calls out, but it sounded far away.
I feel my shirt being ripped open, the feeling of cold air hitting my skin seemingly numb and as if I couldn't feel anything but the stinging in my abdomen.
"It's gonna be okay," a male voice says to me.
"Audrey, Audrey? You have to look at me. You have to look at me," he continues, grabbing my face gently.
I feel a warm hand touch my stomach and I gasp as a sudden flash of memories from when i was a kid show in my head. Images of me laughing and chatting with my friend then there was Max staring at me and I was staring back at him with a big smile on my face. After the memories go away, so does the pain and the feeling of the warm hand goes with it.
When I can finally open my eyes, I see Max Evens right above me with a look of concern and worry written on his face, his hand was still on my face. "You're all right now. You're all right."
"Keys! Now!" Michel shouts to Max. Max grabs the keys from his pocket and throws it to him. He looks over to the counter and grabs a bottle of ketchup then smashes the top off with his bare hands, not a scratch left behind.
"You broke the bottle and you fell, spilled ketchup on yourself. Don't say anything, please," he begs with a pleading look before standing up and rushing out behind his friend.
I get up and hold my ripped dress together when Maria and Liz come towards me with panicked expressions. "Audrey, are you okay?"
Before Max went out the door he glanced back at me and I looked back, not responding to Maria, I was too distracted with what just happened and trying to piece it together with the best of my abilities.
I still hadn't said anything as I watched Max and his friend drive away in a hurry, their car disappearing in a blink of an eye.
