K A T H

Night had passed, and morning came.

"Good morning Philippines!" I said those words while stretching my arm

I took and checked my phone, and to my surprise, my best friend texted me.

From: Julia

"Morning Kath. I heard you're back, see you today. 9AM, Home of C's"

then I replied "Okay"

That's my bestfriend, Julia. Julia Barretto. Owns an angelic face and magnets battalions of boys.

I stood up, went to the bathroom and took a hot shower.

"Sht" I cussed

After then I realized that I AM NOT IN STATES anymore. Simply saying that, temperature here is very different compared to US.

I changed the direction of the pointer of the heater, then after a second, cold water starts to rush in my body.

After about 1 1/2 hr, I went down and heard my phone beeped.

From: unknown number

"Good morning mam. I'm the driver who accompanied you yesterday. Can I ask if how much is your salary, if and ever if, I accept your offer?"

I smiled upon seeing his text

I saved his number and named in 'Kuya Driver'

To: Kuya Driver

"Good morning rin po manong. 180$ po. Is that enough?" Me

then after a minute, he replied

"Wow mam. I converted it to Philippine peso, it's 7, 200" Manong replied

I called one of our maids here and asked

"Excuse me, how much is your salary here for a month?"

"Almost 8, 000 mam." She replied

"Is 8, 000 enough to sustain your family's needs?" I asked

"I have 2 children, studying in high school mam. Your family, sponsors their studies, so 8 000 is so much in my family's needs" she replied again

Because of curiosity, I asked again

"If my parents weren't sponsoring your children's scholarship, is still your salary be enough?" Me

"It's enough. Only enough mam. But for my job, as a caretaker, it's a big salary. Some families kasi here in the Phil tries to hire maids, like me, but they only give about 3000 or 5000 pesos, depending on the maid's work." She explained

"Okay. Thank you."

I texted Julia.

"Jayb. I hired a personal driver here, 180$, is that enough?" Me

then she replied

"So rich, Kath. Our driver receives 7000 every end of the month. So I guess, it's kinda okay na rin. 7 200." Jayb.

Then I called her

-Phone Convo-

"Jayb, where are you?"

"Andito na ako sa HOC. Otw kna? " she asked

"Gosh what time is it?! I'm still in my house!" Omg

"Gosh, Kath! Is that you? You're acting so unprofessional today. Hahahaha. First time yan ah. Ge, pasalamat ka it's not business chuchu. Ge, I'll wait here. Bilisan mo!" Then she hung up the phone.

I hurriedly went to the garage and drove as fast as an ambulance.

Yes, I know how to drive cars, but it's still an advantage to have a driver. Right?

Without even imagining it, I arrived at HOC for only 17 mins after our phone call. Considering Manila's traffic and whatsoever. Phew!

I ran inside and saw her sitting and sipping her lattè.

I ordered one, then sat beside her.

"Yo" I said, and breathe heavily

"You ran?" She asked, concerned.

"Yea" I replied cooly.

then surprisingly, she hit me

"Aww!" I yelled

looked around and gave some costumers an apologetic smile.

"What was that for?" I asked

"For everything. Your doctor told you not to stress yourself in everything, you said 'yes', then ran?" She sounded like mum.

"You sounded like mum. Hahahaha" I chuckled

"Ha ha" Then she gave me an evil stare after that sarcastic laugh

After that cool meet'up with my best friend, I decided to go to the mall to freshen up.

-Mall-

I'm walking formally - not acting at my age, a teenager, but acting like a real woman, a businesswoman.

I'm wearing some hanging tops, skinny shorts and a pair of vans.

As I'm entering the Department Store of this mall, I saw my shoe lace, untied.

I kneeled, tied it properly, then after that I tried to stand, still not looking up, then someone - yes, I saw someone running so fast to my direction, that caused him to bumped after me.

Oh gosh. I think, it's deja vu.

He helped me with my things.

"Hala! Sorry. Ge" he held his hand to help me stand

"It's okay, but be sure to walk formally next time, especially when you're in the mall. Okay?" then I slightly looked up while saying 'okay'

"Hahaha. You sound -"

he then looked at me, same as I looked at him - eye to eye.

"Ouch!" we both shouted while holding our heads

"WHO ARE YOU?!" We both said in unison.
