As soon as my feet touched the ground, I fell to my knees and hugged the ground, being the drama queen I am, I spoke. “Oh Earth, I’ve missed you. You know what Jack? You helped me appreciate the Earth a bit more, so I think I’m going to become a tree hugger. So once I become the most well-known and determined tree hugger in the world and they ask me for my inspiration, I’ll tell them all about you.” Amused, he helped me up and said, “Drama queen much? By the way, instead of worshipping the ground, look around at where you are.” Oh that’s right. I never did take in my surroundings. I’d be one sucky spy. Oh well, taking a quick looks see at where I was smuggled, it turned out to be in the woods next to a lake. What? “Ummm, I hate to be a party pooper here, buuuuuuuuuuut why are we in the woods?” Sure it was pretty and all, but I’ve seen a lot of murder movies take place in this type of setting. “This is where I was born. I came to this world like I am now, not being able to remember anything of how I got here or where I came from.” His way with words changed while looking out into the frozen lake. I was weighing my words with the silence given after he spoke. I guess he thought I wouldn’t say anything or I just won’t understand, but he told me to look up. “The man in moon made me, he only spoke to me once over 99 years of waiting and still after 99 years, I don’t understand my purpose. Maybe it was to meet you?” He brought back his attitude with the last sentence, definitely lightning the mood. “Somehow I doubt that. But it’s a nice thought. Maybe he just thought you were troublesome and didn’t want to talk to you. Or he was waiting for the perfect babysitter.” Laughter erupted from Jack. “Somehow I doubt that.” we chitchat some more at the lake until I had to go home. “Listen Jack, I really need to go home. My dad is probably worried sick about me.” Speaking of my father, I could have just called him. I think that’s what I’ll do now. Jack opened his mouth to speak as I wiped out my cellphone and dialed the number. “What are you doing?” Jack asked. “I’m going to call the agency I work for to come check you out.” I chuckled as his mouth formed and “O” and his eyes were bulging from his face. “Calm down, I was only messing with you.” Regaining his posture, he now wore a face of I’ll get you back. Laughing to the point of crying, I never noticed my dad answered the phone. “Olive?” said the voice of my dad. I know that tone. It was his tone of anger and disappointment. Oh no. “Dad, I’m sorry, I know I should have called, but I met a new friend and lost track of time so when I looked at my phone, I called you right away. I’m really sorry.” Nothing was said at first. It was so quiet I thought he’d hung up, not wanting to listen to any of my excuses, but then he spoke. “Olive, where are you? Do you need a ride home?” that’s it? He’d probably give me a good talking to when we’re home. “No, I don’t need a ride. We went to the park and had a snowball fight. We can just walk back home.” Guilt flooded through me as the conversation continued. He was obviously worried about me. Jack flew me to the park of course and this time, I actually had the guts to look down. It wasn’t that bad. In fact, it was beautiful! Jack, being the gentlemen I didn’t know he could be, walked me home. Reaching the door of my house, I decided to call him on it. “Never thought you’d be the gentlemen type.” Scratching his nose. He answered. “I didn’t think so either. Guess you bring the gentlemen out in me.” He responded. Laughing a bit more, I opened the door to find my dad with some coffee in hand
