Eight years later...
Eight years. Eight year had passed since the Admin attacked our world, almost erasing its existence. Eight years had passed since we had defeated it, bringing peace to the world once more. But almost ten years had passed, since the horrid fire incident had occurred, taking the life of a close friend of all... And yet, it was that same incident that brought us close to him, that brought us close to his wife, Mevia, that brought us their daughter, Harmony and that taught us many important things; life wasn't always fair, it never will be no matter who you are, but even so, you have to keep on living. It may be bad now, but it will get better soon. It's thanks to that incident that I learned that valuable lesson, and had treasured it for the past few years
And now, ten years later, I was sitting on the steps in the armoury by my husband Lukas and secretary Radar as I cradled my baby daughter Alice in my arms. She was only a few months old, but even so, I wished she would stay this way forever. She's just so... Precious, young and fragile, something I could hold tight and hug whenever. From what Mevia and Harper told me, this was normal for a first-time mother as they wished the same for their children when they were small and young. I stroked Alice's beautiful blonde hair tipped with indigo as she looked up at me with her piercing green eyes, sparkling in the light. I smiled at my daughter, who gurgled and returned the smile. I was proud to be a mother and wife of my love, more so than a hero. Things had died down over the years, making me more of the mayor of the town than 'Hero in Residence', however Founding Day was still held to this day and some trouble did come occasionally, still making me a hero if you will, though other than that, I had settled down with Lukas and had more passed on the duties to Radar, who was now my secretary rather than my intern. To think that the shy, stammering yet adorable intern of mine would mature into a calm, professional secretary, though he still had his cute moments. Even ten years later, some things never changed...
"Jesse!" I heard my name called out. The three of us looked up to see Mevia walking in with two young girls; Her daughter Harmony, and Harper and Ivor's daughter, Rose, who stayed behind Mevia and gasped her dress, peeking out occasionally from her hiding spot. Mevia gave us a wave, before Harmony giggled and dashed up to us all
"Hi Auntie Jesse!" Harmony squealed. "Uncle Radar! Uncle Lukas! Hi!" We all shared a small laugh. To this day, Harmony was adorable, and very, very amusing
"Hello Harmony" I said to her, before looking up at Mevia. "Hi Mevia" I said
"Hey Jesse" She replied. "Sorry that we came unexpected, I wasn't able to contact Radar before coming here..."
"My apologies on that Mevia" Radar said. "I've been busy for the past few days" Lukas and I smirked. We knew what had happened, though he had only told a select few people so far
"That's fine Radar, I know you're very busy" Mevia told him. I was surprised she didn't question why he was busy, however it soon came to her attention when Harmony started to pull on Radar's sleeve
"Uncle Radar, why do you have that ring on?" She asked, pointing to a gold ring on his left hand. Mevia spotted the ring and gasped
"You... You finally proposed to her?!" She asked, surprised and excited. Radar nervously smiled as he looked at the ring
"Y-Yeah..." He stuttered slightly
"Took you long enough!" Mevia exclaimed
"That's what I said!" Lukas added. Mevia laughed
"Goodness me!" She exclaimed. "Congratulations Radar! Jeez, I have to go to another wedding?!" Radar smirked
"Who says you're invited?" He asked in a teasing tone
"I do!" Mevia retaliated in the same, playful tone. "You can't really argue with that..." Radar rolled his eyes, but he smiled. It was obvious he would invite Mevia to his wedding, but still, the two would occasionally play around. Suddenly, Alice started to whine a little, possible from all the noise. Radar pulled out his pen and shook it above Alice like a toy, immediately catching her eye. She stopped whining and started to giggle as she played with the pen. I smiled as I watched her play
"Happy to be a mother?" Mevia asked me. I nodded
"I certainly am" I replied. I looked over to Lukas. "And I'm happy to be married to the one I always loved" Lukas smiled back at me and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. Mevia smiled, though I could see a hint of sadness in it. It was no secret she still missed Hadrian immensely, however she was doing much better with Harmony in her life, along with her friends to support her. Not only that, she baby-sat Rose quite often, drawing her closer to Ivor and Harper as friends. I was glad to see Mevia doing so well these days, especially after everything she's gone through
"A-Auntie Mevia..." Whispered Rose, almost in a hush. She looked up at Mevia, tugging her sleeve. "Are we going to Founding Day?"
"Oh! Yes, of course!" Mevia said to her. "Don't worry dear, we'll go in a moment." She turned to us. "Would you like to join us? If you're not that busy, that is" I smiled
"Of course!" I exclaimed. "Lukas and I will join you guys!"
"I'll come later" Radar said. "I need to see the Mrs first, see what she wants to do today" I smiled. I always did whenever Radar called his spouse 'Mrs', which she soon will be
"That's fine Radar, we'll see you later" Mevia said. "Come on Harmony, let's go!" Harmony beamed
"Can I see the pigs?!" She asked excitedly. "I wanna pet them, and feed them, and- Can we please get one?!" She beamed once more, almost giving her mother puppy-dog eyes
"I'll think about it Harmony" Mevia said sternly, yet she still smiled, leaving me to wonder how she resisted her daughter's cuteness. She turned to us once more "Come on, the celebration will start soon" I got up, Alice still cradled in my arms with Lukas following, his arm wrapped around my waist. We bid farewell to Radar as he called his finance on the phone. The sun beamed down on us all as we entered the town, crowds of people already buzzing from stall to stall, looking for items to buy this Founding Day. Harmony was already pestering Mevia to see the pigs, though Mevia insisted they do what Rose wants to do first. I only smiled as I watched Mevia interact with her daughter. To think, ten years ago, we were enemies, rivals. To think, ten years ago, she was distraught, miserable and broken from her husband's passing. To think, a little over eight years ago, she was having trouble looking after her child. But now, she was a lovely and proud mother, now out of her depression and now a friend an ally to the Order. To think, this all started with a horrific fire incident, one we all despise to this day, and yet, we still have it to thank for the friendships and relationships forged today. We all missed Hadrian dearly and his passing was one thing I wished we could change, but unfortunately, life wasn't always fair; life and death don't work hand in hand. These will occur in life, but that doesn't mean we should stop our own. Instead, we can only continue our own in honour for the one who passed on, and live life to the fullest. Times will get tough and bitter; but they only make the good memories like today even sweeter
Life is a game
Love is the prize
It never stays the same
Neither do our ties
Live life to your best
It won't last forever
All the memories blessed,
Forget them, never...
