"Holy Rome! Please don't go!"

A small Italy stood at the gates of a large mansion, crying to Holy Rome, who was walking away. After he couldn't see the other anymore, he turned and slowly walked back to the mansion.

Everyday, Italy waited at the gates for the young empire to return. But the days soon turned into weeks, then months, and then years. After 10 years of waiting, Italy was told that the young empire had died.

After hearing the news, Italy slowly went into a depression. He would lock himself in his room at night and cry himself to sleep, holding Holy Rome's pillow that he loved so much. After a few months, the teen country nearly gave up on eating. He would take a few small bites of his food then walk away back up in his room where he now locked himself in through the whole day and night.

Worried for the still young country, Hungary and Austria told him to return to his own country. Italy packed up his things and at the end of the day, he returned home.

After returning home, he started to get a bit better. But soon he gave up on painting, for all he could paint was the memories of the small empire. He tried to paint simple things, like a bowl of fruit, but everytime he picked up the paint brush, he always ended up painting the dead empire.

When his older brother came to live with him, Romano would worry about Italy's health. The older sibling hated seeing his brother like this. So he tried his best to get the other's mind off of the Holy Roman Empire.

After years of trying, Romano finally got his brother too be at least happy again. Sure, Italy would occasionaly get depressed at some points, but he was a lot happier than a few years back.

Then the World Wars came, and Italy became close to stern country, Germany. You see, all Italy could see in Germany, was Holy Rome, and nothing else. Italy's mind had him believe that Germany was Holy Rome. To some countries who noticed this, they worried for the Italian's mental health. But they decided to let it slide.

Years later after the World Wars had ended, Italy believed more and more that Germany was in fact Holy Rome. That is until a mysterious nation showed up to a world meeting.
