Why on earth did I want to publish something crappy like my works here? Am I insane?
It was simple. Apart from writing and reading, Wattpad made me realized that I had a new hobby. I would type 'anime cover shop' or 'cover shop' and spent hours (sometimes) to browse those beautiful covers especially those stories with anime, thriller, horror, and fantasy as their genres. I was like, 'man, they're so talented!' Of course, Photoshop would be one of their choices, especially for the professional graphic designers.
In my case, Crystal Time was the first book cover that I've designed, with my sister's help. I was like 'hey, at least it did have a cover'. I was not that concerned until my book reviewers suggested me to change the cover here and there. They were right. There was something off with it.
I started to be more serious and eager to learn Photoshop when I published You Should Die Instead. It desperately needed an eye-catching cover. I only used a very gloomy Otoya with the background of sunset and I was like, 'people wouldn't know that this is Utapri fanfiction. Heck, they can't even see his red hair!' and since then, I pushed myself to learn the basics.
Time passed and I must say, I learned newer skills every time I used the software. Since then, I prefer to design my own book covers (no matter how hideous they were, at least I only have myself to curse at and it'll only make me less guilty) and this was when the idea of publishing this book popped out. Plus, I wanted to see the pretty Chihaya in my 'Stories by PERLA' section. I love her character design but I didn't find the reason why I should use her as the model until I came up with this book.
So, FYI, this book is just the collection of my future and published book cover designs with some stories behind them. If you guys happened to find this book, I hope you guys enjoy at least 0.00001% of my works. I am just a beginner who still struggles to create rain or snow on the pictures, not to mention to design a mesmerizing book cover but I'll make sure that someday, I can create more satisfying works :D
