Day Two 4/06/18

After school yesterday, James did it again. As soon as he got off the bus he made a B-Line run home. It was strange, really. I've never seen a boy like him run home so quickly just for his sister. Maybe he was just excited to see her, or maybe the rumor might have even been real.

Beckham was out today, so I didn't have much of anybody to talk to. James slid into the seat next to me at lunch, "Hey Shira." He said. "Oh, hi James," I looked back down at my sheet music, trying to understand the notes my instructor wrote on them. "I think it means you have to play these next four measures with a fluctuation of quiet, loud, quiet, loud, all the way until you finish the measure." James said, pointing to parts of the song. I looked at him and smiled, "You're a music nerd too?" I asked. James shook his head, "No, just learned a few things here and there from my sister."

I sighed, "I know about the rumor that's going around with your sister. Is it true?" James swallowed hard, "No, it's not. My sister she... she... she's not okay. She's trying to end it all and I always rush home to make sure she didn't pull the trigger." My face was blank, I stared down at the table. "I'm so sorry James, that really must be nerve wracking, to have to deal with the fear of your sister doing something like that." I smiled at him, and he smiled back. "Thanks," he said, "I never really get sympathy for me like that."

After school I texted Beckham;
You: Hey, so I figured out why James runs home all the time.
Beck: Really? Why?
You: His sister is suicidal, he runs home to make sure she didn't kill herself.
Beck: Well I can see why. That must suck.
You: I know. I'll keep you updated.

That's all for today.
