Dazai sighed as his little girl tugged on his shirt sleeve. She had been persistent. Very persistent. Violetta had been begging Dazai for weeks for a dog. Violetta knew Dazai didn't too much care for the felines what so ever, but she felt she could change his mind nonetheless. She thought she could give that cute little pout she always did when she wanted something and that Dazai would melt like butter. Most of the time... that was the case. But Dazai was putting his foot down on this one.

"Daddy..." Violetta whined as she tugged.

"No sweetheart."

"Daddy... please...! Mama said it's okay!"

"That's because your Mama doesn't mind dogs. But I do."

And here we go. Here's that cute pout that Dazai had such a hard time denying. Dazai sighed and he finally put down his book, giving his daughter his undivided attention. Dazai picked up his small ginger princess and sat her on his lap.

"Honey, you know how I feel about dogs..."

"But... I'll take care of it! And I'll give it baths. And brush its hair. And-"

"Honey... it's not about that... Papa just doesn't like dogs. What about a cat?"

"I don't want a kitty!" Violetta said angrily as she jumped off Dazai's lap, and stomped to her room. Dazai heard Violetta's door slammed and he sighed.

"We're home!" Chuuya yelled as he closed the door behind himself. Arsené walked into the living room first, and he walked over and hugged Dazai.

"Hi Dad." Dazai kissed his cheek and looked down at his son.

"Hey bud. How were piano lessons?"

"Good. Me and Mama played a full song together today!"

Dazai chuckled. "That's good bud. That means the lessons are paying off. Keep doing so well and I may get you your own piano for home."

"Really?!" Arsené said excitedly.

"Mm. But you have to work really hard."

Arsené nodded. "I will I promise!" Arsené said before he ran off into his room.

Chuuya plopped down next to Dazai on the couch. And he rubbed his hand through his husband's hair lovingly. "C'mon... talk to me. What's wrong?"

Dazai sighed as he laid his head on Chuuya's lap. "Violetta wants a dog..."

"Which I know. And...?"

"... and she's upset with me because I told her we couldn't get one."

"Dazai..."

"Chuuya you know how I feel about dogs!" Dazai whined.

"I know I know... but babe... it's different from being around a dog you didn't grow with from a puppy and one you have."

"How so?" Dazai asked softly as Chuuya kept stroking his hair.

"Because when a puppy grows up with you they know you. They know your scent, they know when your happy, sad, angry. They become companions and they protect you against danger. And most importantly of all they love you unconditionally. I promise you. You won't regret getting the dog. I can't make you get it for her... but at least indulge her a little."

Dazai had thought about it for a few weeks. Violetta finally stopped asking him as she just figured she wasn't going to get the puppy. Dazai listened to what Chuuya said, and he figured some of the points Chuuya made were right. It didn't hurt to try, which is why much to Dazai's objection he was doing this. Dazai had went to the shelter and already signed documents for the dog, got its shots, and the dog neutered. Dazai was just now waiting patiently for his family to come home.

Dazai didn't have to wait too long as he heard the knob being twisted.

"Dazai we're home!" Chuuya announced before he came into the living room with his children.

"Stay there." Dazai said as he stood up from the couch.

His family looked at him confused. "Dazai what's going on? What did you do?"

"Why do you always assume I've done something?" Dazai whined.

"Cause you're always doing unnecessary shit. So, spill it. What did you do this time?"

"This time... I actually took your advice." Dazai walked over to his office and he opened the door and whistled. Out came running a brown husky puppy. The puppy ran over to Violetta and she squealed in happiness as she looked down at the over joyed puppy. Violetta hugged the puppy and she cried tears of joy as she looked at it.

"Is it mine...?! Is this my puppy...?!" Violetta cried.

Dazai nodded. "Yes. That's your puppy." Dazai smiled. Chuuya looked at Dazai smiling and he walked over giving Dazai a kiss on the cheek. Chuuya whispered a thank you as they enjoyed the looks on their children's face at having a pet. Especially Violetta's.

Once Violetta got over the shock of seeing the puppy, and reality settled in that it was her dog. She walked over to her father, and she pulled on his sleeve asking him to get down to her level. Violetta leaned over and she kissed Dazai on the cheek. "Daddy's the sweetest... and the best Daddy in the world... thank you!" Violetta said happily as she hugged her father tightly.

Dazai blushed and smiled as he hugged his daughter back tightly. Even though Dazai disliked dogs. Seeing his daughters face light up was worth getting over it.

"You're welcome. Have you chosen a name for him yet princess? He is your dog after all." Dazai said smiling.

Violetta thought for a moment, and she whispered the name into her brother's ear and he nodded. As he seemed to like her idea.

"Aki." Violetta said.

The dog barked as he walked in a circle happily.

"Aki... I think that's a wonderful name." Dazai said smiling.
