We met at Harvard. -Koah

I stood there, astonished that i actually made it into Harvard, the school of my dreams. The letter in my hands was soon taken from me and  passed around the room from one family member to the next, each one congratulating me after they looked it over. We spent the rest of the evening eating and discussing my plans for college. I'd go to harvard for a degree in biomedical engineering and then get a job somewhere in that field.

As soon as everyone left, i ran upstairs immediately to facetime with my best friend Courtney. She's been with me through everything, even when i came out to my very religious family.

She answered the call and mumbled something about 8:30 being past her bedtime and not to call her so late. She proceeded to turn on the light and ask what the matter was.

"Who has two thumbs and just got accepted to Harvard?"

Courtney shreiked and shot up from her seat, making her phone fall over.
"No way! Really?"

I slowly nodded and she freaked again. All i could do was sit and laugh.

"Now you make me feel like shit for going to MSU. We'll be so far away."

"It's only in Massachusetts, Court. We'll be fine. We can still facetime. It's not like you'll want to see me everyday anyway." I chuckled.

"I know. I just feel weird that everybody is going away and we probably won't see eachother again."
Courtney was the popular type; smart and compassionate while having many friends. Noah liked to keep to himself more, and while he was still introverted, enjoyed hanging out and studying with friends.

"You're a catch, Court. There's no way you'll lose contact with everyone."
I winked, earning a laugh.

"Ewwww."

"You know i'm right."

"Whatever. I have to go. It's past my bedtime and a sis has to get her beauty sleep. I'm proud of you and goodnight."

"Night."

We ended the call and i quickly went to the bathroom and washed my face before bed. I jumped in the covers and fell asleep quickly, thinking about the future.

The next morning went the same as every other. I woke up at around 10, ate breakfast, and went to work at 12. I made it to Savvy's Place, the restaurant i've been working at since i was 14, in a fair amount of time. When i opened the glass door, i was greeted with a massive hug from my boss.

"I. Am. So. Proud. Of. You." The giant of a man said as he practically crushed my ribcage. "Your mom called. I can't believe my little Noah is going to Harvard!" He said with pep in his voice.

I pulled away, catching my breath. "Thanks, Matt, but i'm not little anymore."

"Ehh. You're still a little tyke to me. Now get to work before i take your paycheck." He gave me a smile that meant he was serious.

I've been working for Matt for so long that we've become really good friends, even though he's pretty much the same age as my dad. I'm just now starting to realize how much i'll miss my hometown.
