Alina bit her lip. She just couldn’t help herself. Today the prince of Norman Dire came just like all of the other suitors to court for her hand. We waited for a couple of minutes then the prince entered. Alinas heart skipped a beat, but to be disappointed. The prince had an extremely long nose as long as goats. His hair was reddish blond and his body looked like a grasshopper, long and stringy but not in the agile way.
My father and I just asked if he would like some tea and the prince just walked in to the dining hall without even giving a second glance like he already owned the castle. I shot a glance at my father and he felt the same way I felt. But to my disappointment the King just clenched his jaw and sat down. Sighing I took a seat right next to my father fidling with my long vevet gown petting hoping the soothing silk would calm her nerves.
Alina hoped that her might prove to be kind but she was again disappionted. To my disgust prince Fredrick started boasting about his winnings at horse races, while he was eating! Alina tryed to focus on her lamb stew. But it was tough with chunks of meat flying out of the princes mouth. Alina lost the urge to enjoy the delicious Welkin delicacy.
It felt like a millennial until my father said that it was time for Prince Fredrick retire to his room. Alina headed to her room and sat down on her bed. She was so tired that she rang the bell so that the servants could help her out of her velvet gown. As soon as she was in her night gown, Alina lit her little oil lamp on and took out a huge book, that was on her small cedarwood desk. By just looking at it you could see that the book or manuscript was ancient.
With its slightly wrinkled thin yellow pages. It was Alina’s favorite folk book. It had fairy tales and her most favorite fairy tale was South of the Sun and North of the Moon. The fairy tale was about a girl who was taken by a huge white bear to a palace made out of ice where she found her true love. Alina sighed and quickly put the book back in its shelf.
As soon as she was about to put it away Alina saw a faint outline of a book behind the books in her book shelf. Alina gently took the book and put the other book back in the book shelf. This book had a big snowflake embroidered on the cover with a silver blue thread. Ice blue thread was hard to come by whoever owned this book must of been wealthy.
Alina took a deep breath her hands shaking with excitement and blew the dust off the book and saw a faint word, Winter. She opened the book and on the first page it said, “The Stories of the Four Sisters.”The four sisters? Who are they?
Alina was so excited about the inscription that she didn’t notice four symbols right under it. When Alina looked under the inscription her breath hovered in her throat. First there was a beautiful orange and red leaf with an amber jewel in the center of it and by the leaf there was a word. Autumn.
It was written in some golden ink because under the oil lamp Alina could see that it sparkled. After the leaf there was a magnificent snowflake even grander than one on the cover. The snowflake looked like it was carved with great care even beautiful designs on it looked delicate. In the center of the snowflake there was a rich blue sapphire. By the snowflake there was a word in silver ink. Winter.
After the snowflake there was a beautiful cherry blossom flower a bit larger than an ordinary one as big as her palm. In the center of the blossom there was a beautiful pink sapphire will rich deep and light hues of pink. Next to the flower there was a word in pink silver ink. Spring. The last one was a rich green leaf with a dark green emerald.
And next to it there was a word written in dark green gold ink. Summer. Alina stared at the four words and realized that they were capitalized not lower case. At least she knew her grammar well. Then it hit her if the words are capitalized then these words don’t stand for the seasons!!
What if they’re names!!! If that’s true then these names can be the names of the four sisters!
The picture on the right is the Diary of the Four Sisters. Hope you liked this chapter! The next chapter is even better!!!! Proverbs 11:28, God bless you to do great things:)
