"Attention, class! We have three new students that'll be joining us through out the school year." Ms. Robertson announced to the class. "Okay, Rudy. Why don't you be the first to introduce yourself and the others will proceed." Ms. Robertson said. "Hello everyone! My name is Rudy Mack and I'm from Brooklyn, New York." Rudy said. "Howdy y'all! My name is Sally Johnson and I'm from Texas." Sally shouted. The final new kid hesitated to introduce theirself "What are you waiting for? it's your turn to introduce yourself to the class." Ms. Robertson said. The new kid slowly walked in front of the class to speak. "Hi. M-m-my name is... M-m-my name is..." the new kid stuttered. There was a long moment of awkward silence. Breaking the awkwardness, Ms. Robertson said," Alrighty now everyone. Find a seat; sit anywhere you want." "CLAIRE!!!" Ms. Robertson yelled. My head quickly shot up from my desk. I looked around the classroom as if I was in a completely new and undiscovered world. Everybody in the classroom burst out in laughter but I didn't really care because I do embarrassing shit like that everyday. "You should know better than to fall asleep during class, especially when new students are introducing theirselves." Ms. Robertson said. I looked over to my right and saw one of the new kids quietly giggling at me. "He's pretty cute." I thought to myself. I looked at him as he placed his supplies underneath his desk and sat down. He soon caught me staring at him, and my eyes quickly darted upward, trying to play it off as if I was staring at the ceiling. I looked at him in the corner of my eye and saw him blushing, playing with his short blonde hair.
After class, I walked up to him, trying to start a conversation. "Hello. I'm Claire. I didn't quite get your name 'cause I was too busy sleeping." I said in a nervous voice. "Haha, my name is... my name is..... Jake." he said. I smiled at him and replied, "Cool name."
As we continued to walk to our lockers, I noticed that Jake was having a bit of trouble with his books. "How about i give you a hand." I said. I took his books from out of his hands and held them in my left arm. As we were walking to our next class, my right hand swayed against his left hand, and he suddenly grabbbed my hand. We looked each other in the eyes and looked downward, both blushing.
"Oh, shit! We only have a minute left before we're late for 7th period!" I said promptly. We had to go our separate ways; I went to math class, and he went to history class. "Cya after class!" Jake shouted. "Will do!" I replied.
"X equals Y minus the square root of 49 times 23." I heard Mr. Adams say to the class as I doddled Jake's name on a sheet of notebook paper. "Is he thinking about me? Is he thinking about me thinking about him??? Is he thinking about me thinking about him thinking about me?????" I wondered to myself. My mind went into my own little world as I daydreamt about Jake and I being together. "CLAIRE HEISSMANN! Pay attention!" Mr. Adams yelled at me as I was in la-la land. I immediately turned my attention towards the chalkboard, but I soon started drawing little pictures of him in my diary and daydreaming about him. "I wonder what he could be doing right now." I thought to myself.
As soon as the bell rang for dismissal, I grabbed my books and hurried out of the classroom.
