Our conversation gets cut short by the bell and we all begin to clean our booth.

"Julia, we're not done talking about this," Maria states, a little sternly but at the same time, pitifully.

"I know, I know okay?" Julia replies.

We then part ways and head to our third-period classes.

I had fitness. Co-ed fitness. With Max. Which I really did not need to deal with right now. I decided to skip instead.

I text Julia, she's never one to turn down an offer to skip. Except now I guess, as she replies with a dry and simple "No." Guess lately, Julia's just not the Julia I know. I couldn't believe that she was pregnant, and worst of all, I couldn't believe she cheated. I hate cheaters and anyone who knows me knows that.

I decided to walk to the Starbucks across from our school and wait there. I take a seat at the high chairs and open up my laptop and notebook, I might as well work on something right?

I get lost in my Chemistry homework, something about the content was just so... mesmerizing.

I look up and to my surprise, I see that Mike was working.

Mike was Julia's older cousin. I didn't know much about him, except that when I met him for the first time when we were all at Julia's house, he was very nice. And very cute. Something about that brown hair and those brown eyes was just so... attractive.

"Sophia! Playing hooky I see."

"Hey Mike", I say, surprised he even remembered my name. " I just really don't want to deal with school right now..."

"Hey I get it, don't worry, I won't snitch. Can I get you anything?"

"Thanks, but I don't have any money with me."

"Hey, it's on me."

"That's sweet, but I couldn't."

"What's the point of knowing someone who works at Starbucks if they can't even get you free drinks?"

I think about it, and then give in.

"Okay, fine! I'll just get a Green Tea Frappuccino - please and thank you."

"One Green Tea Frappuccino coming right up!"

I smile, why couldn't all guys be as nice as Mike. If Mike was a few years younger, and maybe, well, single, I'd totally go for him.

I see Mike coming out from behind the counter and joining me on the high chairs. He hands me the drink I ask for as well as a straw.

"Here, a Green Tea Frappuccino made special for you."

I smile and thank him.

"What are you working on there?" he asks me, peering over my shoulder.

"Chemistry..." I groan.

"Need any help? I was pretty good at the Sciences back in high school."

"High school? Wasn't that over a decade ago Grandpa?" I joke with him.

"Hey! I'm not that old. I'm still a kid at heart, like you."

Mike's phone starts ringing, interrupting our conversation.

"Hey sorry, I've got to get this. It's Linda."

I frown, "Go ahead."

Linda. Blonde. Skinny. Perfect - besides the fact that she's a total bitch. I had no idea why Mike was dating her. Especially after all the horror stories Julia's shared with me about her.

I check the time and realize that fourth period was going to start soon. I sigh, I couldn't skip two classes in a day, my parents would kill me. I pack up my things and wait for Mike to get off the phone so I could say bye. It didn't seem like their conversation was ending anytime soon so I decided to just leave.

Just as I was exiting, my phone starts ringing. I pull it out of my pocket and check who's calling. Max. Great. Why on earth is he calling me. I hesitate, but ultimately decide to pick up.

"What." I say coldly.

"Sophia. We need to talk. In person."

"You can say whatever you need to over the phone."

"But-"

"Just tell me."

"Sophia. I have syphilis."

Are you fucking kidding me.
