Always Learning...

I remember the Doctor always saying that everything always ends. That phrase pretty much sums up my life. I've grown up single and alone because of all the endings I've had. I lost the love of my life, and most of my family too. Almost every one of my friends left me for other people, their families, or I was just forgot about. There haven't been to many times in my life where I felt noticed.

I slowly walked around the TARDIS to see if it was really there. I do remember a few times where I was walking and I thought I saw the TARDIS and I totally freaked you and made myself look like a bloody fool. But while I touched the outsides of that blue wooden box, I knew that it was real. He was really here and I was so thrilled and terrified to see what was going to happen.

I stood in front of the door and knocked. "Doctor? Are you in there?" And before I could say anything else, the door opened and he was standing there, bow tie and everything. Everything that I have read about him was true! The bow tie that was always slightly crooked, the long coat that went down towards his knees, the suspenders! And that hair too. It was all to perfect.

"Umm.... Yes?" he says interrupting my rude staring.

"Right! Sorry Doctor. But can you help us? I don't quite know what is going on." I say, realizing how stupid that sounds.

"Of course, but only if you can get out of my way."

"Right. Of course." I step to my right, and he walks out into the main room of the office and closes the door to the TARDIS behind him. The Doctor then pulls out his sonic screwdriver and waves it around, but then focuses on Mr. Hartfield's door (Mr. Hartfield being my boss).

He turns around and looks me right in the eyes. "Tell me everything that was going on this morning. And anything else unusual that has been happening here."

For a moment I was stunned that he would even ask me. There were dozens of employees running about and he turns to as me. But I quickly snap out of it. "Right. Well, all that I was doing this morning was trying to fax a file to the Prime Minister. I didn't look at it of course, me just being a temp. And I was just about to start when everyone started screaming. I walked out and didn't seem like anything was wrong, but everyone was running and screaming like the sky was falling or something. I haven't seen anything like it in this place. Everyone who works here has seen alien activity and knows how to cope with what it brings."

"Very good observing. But then why aren't you screaming like your co-workers?" he asks me.

"I don't know. And when you asked me if anything weird was going on, I think there has. Mr. Hartfield hasn't left his office in a month. I haven't even seen him leave to go home."

"Fantastic. Well... Uhh... What's you name?"

"Elizabeth Smith." I answer in a high pitched, overly excited tone.

"Let's go and meet the boss." We both walk over to Mr. Hartfield's door. The Doctor pulls out his sonic again and waves it front of the lock on the door. It opens with a click. I didn't even think that the door would be locked.

"Mr. Hartfield! If it alright..." his voice trails off. I look towards Mr. Hartfield's desk. I can see why the Doctor stopped talking. "...if we come in?"

It was nothing like I have ever seen before.
