As the sun set into dusk, Robin quietly left his small home, smiling softly to himself as the crisp morning air brushed against his face and into his lungs. He glanced back at Echo as she followed suit and emerged from the doorway, giggling softly and fixing her hair.
"Come on Robin! I'm going to show you something special!" She trilled happily before taking his hand, leading off the property and into the small wood.
The trees seemed to go on forever once they were inside the woods, the stars and curved moon being their only friends and sources of light. The grass hugged their feet as they walked hand-in-hand, welcoming them into the calm and blissful spectacle.
"What do you want to show me?" Robin questioned, looking around before returning his gaze back to her.
"This." She beamed as she stopped and held her hand out, summoning a small grey bird with the call of a whistle. "Their name is Percy! I think it's a chickadee..."
Robin's eyes widened at the feat, his mouth dropping open in awe and more respect than he already had for her. "Oh my goodness! Golly, how'd you do that?"
"Practice, it took a while but it surely paid off." She smiled softly and got an idea, stroking the bird's head gently. She calmly took his hand and made him hold it out, transferring the bird into his hand. "Be calm now..."
He froze a bit, looking at the bird as it blankly gazed back at him. It chirped softly before nuzzling its head on his thumb.
"Looks like you're a bird whisperer too, Robin." She giggled and quickly gave him a peck of a kiss on the cheek.
Robin, of course, being surprised by the action, blushed a dark red and squeaked. Just standing there a blushing mess as Percy flew back over to Echo and perched on her shoulder as she simply grinned at him. "What's wrong with my birdy-boy?"
"N-Nothing!..." He mumbled slightly and shyly looked away, rubbing his arm a little before looking up at the sky. "We should head back soon."
Echo nodded and allowed Percy to fly away, waving goodbye to the small bird before taking his hand and playfully nudging him. "Lead the way. I'm ready to go when you are."
