The music flows through me. Each note, each voice creates a crescendo of sound weaving around me. Each beat is a splash of color in the painting the music is creating. The melody, weaving with the harmony adds more depth and feeling to the masterpiece. I close my eyes, letting the colors sink in, painting me with all the colors of the rainbow. The symphony seeps into my skin, filling me with power, filling me with strength. As I open my eyes, the last note is played and the colors burst from me, splattering over the walls, making them drip with feeling. The color leaves me, and again I'm stuck with the vast nothing. The pain returns and I can barely breathe. The bright rainbows turn to a dark gray, dissolving my happiness and leaving me with only sadness. The demons return to my mind and I'm alone. No one can help me now. I close my eyes and give into the horror.

I gasp and jolt straight up in my bed. Sweat drips down my temple. My breath comes in ragged gasps as I try to calm my racing heart. After several hundred more breaths, I calm down enough to get my senses back. I rub my eyes and glance at the glowing alarm clock. 3:07 am. I release a breath and flop back down onto my pillow. I pull my blankets up to my chin and close my eyes. It was witching hour. Well at least that's what my friends call it. They say that's when the monsters come out. I turn on my side and squeeze my eyes tighter, pulling my soft baby blanket closer around me. After several minutes of listening to my soft breathing, I start to drift off. Before I can fully fall asleep, a loud thud comes from the ceiling above, almost like someone or something had fallen down on top of the roof.

---------------

I feel like I'm falling. I crack my eyes open and I was indeed falling. What?! What happened?! Wasn't I in my perch just like a few seconds ago?! I tumble through the air, my wings getting tangled in the wind. I struggle to right them, the harsh wind tossing me around, the ground getting closer by the minute. A sharp gust of wind pushes me away from the empty field right below me and blows me towards a small town. The wind blows me right over a neighborhood and literally stops. I freeze in mid-air and start to free-fall again. After realizing that my wings would not cooperate, I brace for impact. I pull my knees up to my chest and wrap my arms around them. I squeeze my eyes shut and wait for the pain.

--------------

The knife slides down my arm, leaving a long red line. The blood slowly dribbles down my hand and falls to the hard wooden floorboards. I watch it with dull eyes. The pain didn't bother me anymore, I was more worried about how I was going to hide my new scars. The kids at school would surely punish me more if they were showing. More long-sleeves, I thought glumly. My mother would freak, but who cares, she couldn't hurt me anymore than I'd hurt myself. I drag the sharp knife over my scar covered skin once more. Now smiling, knowing that no one knew what I knew. Even if I was stuck in this horrible life, at least I could go to them if I needed a dirty deed done. I smile wider, knowing just what their price would be. One soul for eternal happiness coming up. And with my blood staining the floor and my eyes toward the full moon outside my window, I start to plan how I would escape.

--------------

I face my opponent from across the field, smiling savagely. He was nothing, I would beat him down into the dust just like the rest. He wouldn't even know what had happened until its all over. The man across from me looked right back into my eyes. He was keeping his cool. Not for long, I thought. Then he smiled at me. I faltered, he looked so happy!? I was losing focus. What? I was legendary!! I was unbeatable!!! Suddenly I was filled with rage. He was never gonna walk again!! I would break his knees so that he would see, no one messes with me. I narrow my eyes at my opponent, who was now yawning. What?!? I could almost feel fire flowing through my veins, I was so enraged!! The judge finally rang the starting bell and I was off like a shot. The man disappeared before I was even halfway across the field and before i could react, the man was holding me down on the ground. I blinked. He was faster than I thought. I try to push him off, but he is too strong. I let my arms fall to my sides. Might as well give him what he wants... I thought, well, at least what he thinks he wants...hehehe. I start to plan out how I would attack when his guard went down, when he thought he was the winner. I look up into my foe's eyes and am surprised to see him crying. Before I can react, he seals his mouth to mine.

Something different, strange, new. What is this feeling? Why is my mind suddenly flooded with emotion? As my eyes survey the scene, my mind races to find what has caused this. I turn and see him. What had once filled my mind overflowed. I was sure my face showed it. So much emotion, so much feeling? How could this being make me falter? My strong walls were broken. I was drowning. I gasp for air, turning away. My heart was hammering in my chest. What was going on? I clutch my shirt, trying to get a grip of things. A tear fell to the ground, hitting the concrete and jolting me back to the present. I reach up and softly touch my face. It was wet. I wipe the rest of the surprising tears away. Clumsily I rise, my legs shaking. I want to leave. I look around, no one to stop me. I take a step, unaware of my weakness. I stumble, barely catching my balance. I walk towards the tall dorm building, groaning internally as it seemed miles away. I barely took five steps before I heard a voice. Pure, strong, and melodious, it drifted into my ears. I couldn't move.

"Where are you going?"

This voice. I stare at my hands as they start to shake. Each tiny fiber of my being was vibrating with feeling. I could barely stand. My mind started to fade in and out, like a flickering light, on the verge of burning out. I was floating, no falling. Oh, no.
