LFG (Liquid Feel Good)

by r w edwards

I haven't known you for long

But you've known me forever.

I stand naked before you

You keep me at arm's length.

Your touch is my medicine

Where have you been until now?

We were walking

We were talking

And you expanded around me

You are the whole universe to me.

I see you in others

You think I'm such a good person.

I fall at your feet

You help me up again.

I burned a tapestry of untruths

When I found you

And I haven't looked back.

You make me feel human again

But in a good way.

If I had set out to make the perfect person

I'd have failed

But if

There was a perfect person

It would be you

And I couldn't ask for more.

I couldn't ask for more

Than to suppose that you exist

Much less, to know you do

And to love you.

I never knew it could be like this

I didn't believe in it before.

Love as construction

Love as comfort

Love as patience...

I've been wrong before

But I've never been so happy about it.

We were walking

We were talking

And now you fill the void

The void in my heart

I never knew I had.

Where have you been until now?

All that is soft

Or fragrant

Or happy making...

Reminds me of you.

Where have you been

Until now?

I want to do things I never wanted to do before

I want to do everything ever done by any

Living person

with you.

You take away my fears of the dark and the future

And give me happiness in return

But I sit

And I try to think

What do I give back?

I appear obsessive to you
