(for Sarah/Navy/SD)

Night, that last regret

    And your call to me

        …still fresh on the wind.

Mind, full of wonder

    Heart, bespelled

        Loins. alert

Does it work

    on her

        as well?

Looking back

        and down

    into past; into memory

The presence of her

        pulls and tears

at the edges of soul and vision.

Can I but wait?

Can I be trusted to wait?

    Will she?

But the sorrow-song

        of the sparrow

    in gloomy morning-

The din.

        cacophony of a million

    distressed pigeons-

Was it wasted?

        Can time be.

    wasted?
