“So.” she said.
“So….. what?” Daren didn’t get the point.
“WE have been kidnapped by these people and being held hostage in a room. What do you plan to do about it?” she asked.
“What can I do about it?”
“How does “escape” sound?” she looked at him like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Good. But how?” he put on a very confused and dumb expression on his face.
“Well if you were good enough to qualify for that scholarship, you probably have some brains in you. Why don’t you try to think?”
Daren did not like the tone of hers. He felt anger and fury, and basically, he had thought about escape, but he did not want to share is plans with her. He did NOT know her, and she might be one of them, no offence but he just did not trust her enough, no matter how sexy she was. His heart screamed out that she was true, but he was always the kind of person to keep his head above his heart. He knew these people were deadly, and he would get only one chance to escape. In such a case, the girl would only be a liability, and with her physical appeal, a distraction.
Azelia looked at Daren. Man, the guy was HOT. Everything about him was perfect, his handsome features, his piercing eyes, and oh god, his killer smell. It was the reason she had chosen the bed in the first place- to be as far away from him as possible. He spelled danger with a capital d, and his devilish good looks were no good for her raging teenage hormones.
“You are staring” Daren said to her.
“You look torn,” she said to him, blushing inwardly about being caught off guard. It wasn’t everyday she found someone who suited her taste, in truth, never.
“Oh really? “He said dryly, and stared intently at the carpet, becoming fidgety for some reason.
‘He’s hiding something from me’ the thought occurred to Azelia and rage filled her. All she could see was red, and she clenched her fists to control herself. It was some time before the rational self of her stepped in.
‘Why does he need to tell you everything?’
‘Because-‘she stopped herself, too afraid o what was going to come out. It was a reality, even she couldn’t face herself.
‘because what?” the rational her said
‘We have both kidnapped, we need to help each other out damnit.’
‘Why should he help you? What are you to him?”
‘ I am his-‘ she stopped short again. She gave up. It was no good. Usually she was a very cool and calm person. Daren was indeed making her feel creepy things. Maybe he was one of them, you know, sent to spy on her and stuff?
But her heart just refused to believe it. Why was she so foolishly trusting a total stranger in such dangerous circumstances?
“You are staring you know, and it is considered rude.” Daren said to her, snapping her out of the monologue with herself.
“I got an advice mate.” She said, looking at him “Go with your brain. Never, ever follow your heart.”
“But that’s what I always do.” , he said.
“But you were torn right now. I just gave an advice. Take it or leave it. Up to you.” She shrugged.
“How do you know that?” Daren was surprised as well as confused.
Azelia blushed, turning red.
‘What the hell??’ she thought to herself, really annoyed by the way her endocrine system was behaving at the moment. She was embarrassed at herself. But the truth was she herself did not know how she knew. And frankly, she even didn’t want to find out how. Something inside her told her she was better off not knowing.
“Well?” Daren was intent on finding out was the matter was. Had she just blushed? That’s what he thought because she went all red and shy and in general girly. Eww. But what really troubled him was he felt all warm and tingly seeing her blush. He felt happy and … whatever.
It was this place, he finally decided. The place was doing this to him. He needed to get out of here somehow and fast.
Time to put operation escape into action.
