Icarus and Thor walked into Tony's lab, where he and Peter were working. Well, Tony was working and Peter had his head resting on his hand, eyes drooping close.
"Is...is he okay?" Icarus asked Tony.
"Yeah, he just had a late night patrolling. He won't listen to me when I tell him to only stay out so late," Tony responded, squinting at Peter "He just doesn't know when to turn in for the night."
"Knowing Peter, I can't be too surprised."
"Yeah, I love the kid, but he really needs to learn his limits, and that means something coming from me."
"It does," Thor adds
"Okay, but what do you need? I usually don't see you in my lab," Tony asked Icarus, turning the attention from Peter to him.
"Oh, yeah. So I...uh, went primal again" Icarus says, looking down to the ground "And my wing is damaged. I was wondering if you have anything to help it."
"I don't really have anything to help you heal, since the ones who come to me when their injured have enhanced healing powers," Tony said glancing to Peter "But Bruce will probably have something. Go ask him. He's in his lab."
"Alright, thanks, man," Icarus said, turning to leave. Thor following behind him.
"Tony really has a soft spot for the small child," Thor said as they made their way to Bruce's lab.
"Yeah, it's pretty obvious Tony thinks of him as a son. Same goes for Peter, though. He thinks of Tony like he's his dad, I overheard Tony talking about what happened to Peter's parents. He deserves a father figure in his life."
"I'm glad they have a close bond, it seemed like Tony needs it."
"Oh definitely, but it's not like Tony's alone. It's also pretty obvious him and Stephen have been rather close lately," Icarus said, emphasizing the word close. Thor chuckles at that as they walk into Bruce's lab. Bruce gave Thor a questioning look but doesn't say anything.
"What can I help you two with?" Bruce asks.
"Icarus here went primal again and hurt his wing. I was wondering if there was anything you could do to help it heal?" Thor asks this time, knowing that Icarus doesn't like talking about going primal all that much. He had talked about it with him before. Thor recalls him saying that he gets hard on himself about not being able to expand his powers more and that whenever it happens he gets less hopeful that he'll improve. 'It's sad that the young one doesn't have faith in himself. He's so much stronger than he gives himself credit for. I cannot blame him, though. His parents weren't that great to him. I mean, they obviously weren't good parents at all. Kicking him out when he was only 15, that must've been hard. He already has enough on his plate, not being human while living amongst them and being transgender, he's gone through enough.
"Let me look at it," Bruce says, gesturing for Icarus to go over to where Bruce is sitting. After a few questions and looking over his wing, Bruce states that it's just a few pulled muscles and damaged feathers. It should heal over time is what he says. He tells Icarus to not use it that much, though, as it could further damage the muscles.
"Great," Icarus groans. 'Just another thing wrong with me.' He thinks to himself.
"Don't worry, it isn't that severe. You should be good to go in about a month," Bruce says, trying to reassure Icarus.
"A month?! Goddamnit..."
"Don't worry Icarus, you'll just get to spend more time around the compound. You could even go to the tower to make "Vine" references with Peter and Shuri, whatever those are..." Thor says, his voice quieting in confusion at the last part. They head out of the lab back to the rec room, thanking Bruce in the process.
"Yeah, I guess so. It still sucks, though," Icarus said, groaning once again.
"Yes, it does, winged one. You should rest, whether you seep or just sit around the compound. Maybe Man of Spiders will join you after he finishes in the lab," Thor said, looking at Icarus with a grin spread across his face. They had reached Icarus' room by the time they finished their conversation. Thor, being careful of Icarus' injured wing just pat him on the shoulder.
"I shall be going now, goodbye Icarus," Thor said, giving a warm smile to him.
"See ya, Thor," Icarus said, smiling back.
With a flash of lightning, Thor was gone. Icarus sighed, now bored and not knowing what to do for the next month. He wandered into the rec, hoping Loki was still around. To his satisfaction, he was.
"Hey, Wanna go out into town with me? Like go to a café or something?" Icarus asked Loki."Why not? I just finished the book anyways," Loki said, standing up.
"Great! Should I go ask Tony and Peter if they wanted to come? Peter may won't because he's tired, but you never know with him. I'm sure Tony wouldn't mind, either."
"Might as well, that Tony "Skank" needs to get out of his lab."
"Skank?" Icarus asks, giving Loki an inquisitive look.
"Just a nickname I gave him, He can really live up to him sometimes."
"He can. Can I start using that?"
"Sure, I don't have it trademarked or anything."
"Hell yeah."
The rest of the walk to Ton's lab was in a comfortable silence. The two had always enjoyed each other's company. While Thor and Icarus were in a close friendship, Loki and his friendship had been growing. The rest of the team knew it was only a matter of time before they had become close. Just something about their personalities clicked so much with the other. Neither of them complained, even when they were just starting out as new friends, they enjoyed each other's company.
"Yo Tony Skank! Wanna head out to a café with Loki and I? Maybe you too, Peter, if you're not too tired, of course." Icarus said, walking into Tony's lab. The sudden outburst of sound jerked, the once sleeping, Peter awake.
"I would love to go!" Peter said, turning towards them, a little bit of sleep in his eyes.
"While I am offended by you calling my "Tony Skank", I wouldn't mind going. I've been in this lab for three days straight." Tony said, standing up from his chair and walking over the the two of them.
"Mr. Stark! That's not good for you! You can't just be holed up in here everyday!" Peter exclaimed, fully awake now and walking over to the others "You need some fresh air, so you are definitely going."
"Yeah, yeah stop nagging me, kid" Tony said, looking at Peter "Just let me make myself presentable to the public first," Tony said, walking past the group and out the lab door.
"Won't be a bad idea." Loki said, eyeing Tony up and down as he walks out the door.
Loki, Icarus and Peter walk out of the lab and head back to the rec room to wait for Tony.
After about 10 minutes, Tony walked in wearing a plain shirt and shorts, sporting his translucent sunglasses.
"Ready to go?" He asks.
Everyone nods, and they head towards the garage.
