The Cave (Journal 1, Ch. 1 )

'Hello, if you are reading this right now that means, you must have found my journal. I know that right now this seems a bit sketchy, but believe me when I tell you, that this journal is top secret and if it falls into the wrong hands... chaos will rule this island. In this journal, contains all the amazing and horrifying discoveries hidden around every corner, path, and village. Keep it with you always. It has everything you need to know about everything hidden within this island. But please be warned.... They are looking for this journal.... They will try and take it from you... They will hunt you and chase you until they get what they want. Unless, you beat them at their own game—'

HOLD UP, WAIT A SECOND!! Before we get to that, let's start from the beginning, shall we?

~REWIND (about 3 weeks before)~

MJ's POV:

Hey guys!! My name is Mackenzie-Joy Evangeline Copper and I just turned 17 years old (about 5 days ago). Its finally summer time and my grandparents and I have decided to kick the summer off with a trip to Bora Bora!! We would be taking our private jet, and my grandparents have rented out the island for a whole month! I AM SOOO EXCITED!

Since my parents let me choose 3 friends to take, I chose my three best friends Luke, Natalia, and Chase. We leave for Bora Bora in 2 weeks, and once we get there my grandparents are going to let my friends and I go on our own for the month (to explore). So, today we decided to meet up at Natalia's house and talk about our plan for when we get there.

~At Natalia's house~

I park my car in the driveway, grab my purse, and knock on the front door. I only wait a couple of seconds before the door swings open and I find myself wrapped in the warm (but aggressive) embrace of Natalia.

"MJ, I've missed you so much!!" she fakes cries into my shoulder, still bear hugged me.

"Nat... let... go...can't...breath..." I playfully stagger breathe.

"Sorry, I just got a little carried away with my excitement there" she says letting go of me, allowing me to breathe.

" Thank goodness!" I heard Luke say from the couch, " Hey sunshine! It's been a hot minute since we've talked to each other." Luke says hugging me.

"Hey!" I reply cheerfully, "It really has been too long... wait, where's Chase?" I ask curiously, noticing only two of my three best friends.

" Oh, you know... He's in the kitchen 'cleaning' out my entire fridge." Natalia sighs, rolling her eyes.

We all laugh, and head into the kitchen to see Chase with two extra large cheese pizzas in front of him. Just a little side note, if you can't already tell.... Chase is the dumb one in the group. But, please don't get me wrong, Chase is one of the smartest kids I know in sports/school, but his true (dipwad) self only shows when he's with us, his best friends.

" Heeeeey short stack!!" Chase says smiling brightly at me, " How's it going?" He asks shoving a piece of pizza in his mouth.

"First ew chew with your mouth closed... Second, it's been alright... and Third, we should probably start talking about our plan before we forget." I say in one breath, gasping for air.

We all sat down at the table together for about 2 hours talking about our plans for when we get to Bora Bora. We had lunch, laughed, joked, wrote some stuff down, and figured everything out. Now all we have to do is some shopping and packing, and we're set!
