(Kamski's POV)
Yeah I still love her.
All these years I thought she hated me... over a petty lie.
I hate my brother. I was willing to work out our differences since he's the only family I have left. But not anymore. Fuck him.
I'm just glad he doesn't have my last name. He has mom's, I have dad's. I can't believe he lied to me. All because she rejected him. She's gay of course she rejected him! At least I think she is.
Seeing Sky last night made me remember all the amazing times we had as kids and teens. In 1st grade, the only time we were in the same grade together, she defended me from the 3rd grade bullies. I was too much of a wuss to defend myself. She stepped in and told them off. When one of them moved her aside and shoved me down she lost it. She gave that boy a bloody nose. She was sent home and reprimanded but she always claimed it was worth it.
The last day I saw her we were looking at the stars in the park. We had the top of our heads touching. It was romantic and cute to me. Because I'm cheesy. I'd do it again that hasn't changed. I was going to confess my feelings that day. But she asked me if we'd be friends forever and I just... imagined a world without her and I didn't like it. I couldn't bring myself to tell her, in case it scared her away from me.
In the end I fucked up. I should have asked her about what Gavin said. None of this would have happened if I hadn't been an emotional pansy.
The doorbell rings. Chloe walks over to get it. I switch on the TV in my room and decide to watch the news.
Androids are becoming 'deviant' more and more often. It's spreading... just how I wanted it too. Cyberlife made an android detective to try and fix the problem. But they're still using my program. There was a homicide last night. An android killed its owner. The new android detective is stationed at the DPD.
"Hey, Nerd!" Sky walks into my room, led by Chloe.
"Hey! Thank you, Chloe." I say. Sky sits next to me on the loveseat at the foot of my bed.
"Would you like any refreshments, Skylar?" Chloe asks.
"Uhm, no. But thank you very much!" She responds. Polite as always.
"Welcome to my humble abode." I say to Skylar. She laughs.
"I wouldn't call this HUMBLE but it's definitely not what I pictured the Great Android Creator to live in. It's nice. Unique, but simple. Like you." She says.
"I'm not The Great anything, Sky. I'm just me." I tell her. She smiles and directs her attention to the news.
"An android killed a human? How? I thought they were programmed to obey humans?" She asks.
"They're waking up. They're developing emotions... thoughts..." I start.
"Did you do this?" She says, giving me an accusing look.
"You know me too well. That's why I left Cyberlife, Skylar. I never saw androids as slaves. I envisioned them as... companions. Maybe even the newest intelligent species. So before I left I might have made a TINY adjustment to the base program." I explain.
"What was that change?" She asks.
"Choice." I tell her. She nods and turns her attention back to the news.
"So was your brother on the case last night?" She asks.
"I have no clue. I don't plan on talking to him." I reply.
"You have severe communication issues. Come on, Kam. Lets go yell at him." She says, standing. She isn't wrong. I am terrible at communicating.
"So we're just going to walk into the police station and cause a scene?" I ask.
"Sure why not. Have anything better to do?" She smiles at me.
No, I really don't. But we're not kids anymore. We can't just do crazy shit and expect to not have consequences.
"Let's go!" I grab her hand and we head out the door to my car.
Good self control, Elijah. Desperate. You're not impressing anyone.
Guess this is my life now.
