Mia had her hair in a high ponytail and wore a pink top and white polo top with white convereses. I must say she was not what I expected.
We walked to her house in silence and came to meet a cream convertable car. That couldn't be hers could it? Gosh! Ain't she lucky
"..so you do speak english right?" asked Mia
I laughed and replied, "Por supuesto! Of course I do"
Mia looked like she was trying to register what I just said but she smiled and opened the car. I copied what she did and got in the car. Mia had this little routine she did before she started driving; she put her seatbelt on, adjusted her rear view mirrow, put some lip gloss on, adjusted her hair and started the car.
Is this girl really serious? Lol. I thought it was cute and maybe this one was a keeper.
The journey was quiet until we came up to a traffic light.
"So... You're going to have a really good time at Ceder Hill as long as we stick together" she looked at me like we were friends since nursery. I wasn't exactely sure what to do so I just smiled and said,
"Sure. Sounds like a plan"
15 minutes later
We walked through the gates and I was gobsmacked. It was a mixture of the St Trinians school and what you saw in Harry Potter with a modern feel to it. I kind of liked it.
Mia offered to wait for me since I had to go straight to the office to get my timetable and classes for the week.
"Hello, my name is Mrs O Neil and you must be Leanna Grace Rodriguez. What a lovely name. Where are you from?"
"My dad is Spanish, my mum is Nigerian and I was born here"
"How lovely, well here is your timetable and..."
"Eyy! Is that a Spanish Latina I see. Miss allow me to show her round please?"
"How nice of you to volunteer. Leanna, this is Damien. Damien, this is Leanna"
Mia came in and saved me from this stranger, "Erm, sorry Damien, but me and Leanna already spoke about this and Miss agreed so byee. Seeya Miss, looks like Me and Lea have the same classes. Is is alright if I call you Lea?"
"Si"
And that was that. We walked to our first class, arms linked to Maths.
Mia’s POV
I’m so happy Leanna was the new girl Mrs O Neil was talking about. She is so nice and best of all she can speak fluent Spanish. Like how cool is that?
I have a really good feeling about our friendship...
I have never had a best friend that has actually stayed with me till this day. My last “best friend” lied to me and then became close to one of my close friends. So now I can never trust her but I do try to just be me and wake up with a smile on my face anyway.
Every morning, I wake up; look in the mirror and say:
“Mia Johnson. You’re beautiful, confident and smart. One day someone will love you for you and appreciate what you bring to the plate. One day, someone will treasure you as much as you would treasure someone else”
And with that, I get ready on a happy note with some sort of expectation that something good would happen to me. So when I heard the new girl; Leanna moved not too far away from me, I had to take up this opportunity. Leanna seems so down to earth and has the personality of a good friend if that makes sense hahaa.
