Once Upon a time, there lived the Sun God, Abner, and the Moon Goddess, Luna. They only ever saw each other at Dawn and Dusk, but over the eons, they fell in love. Within the year, Luna had given birth to a healthy baby girl they named Astrid. She looked like her father, dark skin and red hair, having red eyes instead of golden or blue. She carried her mother's wisdom and her father's ambitious nature.
Astrid loved her parents. She loved her life. It seemed as if she had it all. And then, just when things couldn't get any better, her mother gave birth to another girl, Zarina.
The two sisters loved each other more than anyone had loved a sibling. However, as the girls grew older, things had changed. And not in the good way.
Zarina mirrored her mother's looks, trading blue eyes for bottle green that never seemed to stop sparkling. She held her father's kindness and her mother's charity. Her magic was unlike anything anyone had seen in this or any other life. She was truly loved by all.
Overtime, people stopped going to Astrid for help and went to her younger sister instead. Angry and left out, Astrid fled and secluded herself in her castle, cursing anyone who dare come near.
Upon hearing of her sisters predicament, Zarina went to help. She tried to reason with her, but Astrid had had enough of being overshadowed by her 'Perfect Little Sister.' She summoned black rocks that glowed with hateful red fire. She ordered them to capture her sister so that she could deal with her herself. But Zarina was not one to back down.
She soon found a way to destroy them. While Astrid, full of resentment and jealousy, prepared to destroy Zarina once and for all, Zarina used the power of the Sun and Moon to banish Astrid to a realm no one would ever find.
When the deed was done, Astrid's castle went into ruins, and the Goddess cried for the first time in her life. She fell to her knees, her dress digging into the grass, apologizing to her beloved sister over and over again.
As her tears hit the earth, the Earth God, Addam, felt sorry for her. She had just lost not only a sister, but a friend. By her own hand, no less. And so, using his powers, her created a human baby from the dirt and her tears.
Zarina stopped her crying when she heard something begin to join her in her sorrow. She looked around and was faced with the baby. Her heart warmed for the child, hating to see it cry.
She gently picked it up and vowed to care for the little creature, the way she couldn't for her sister.
After hearing of their eldest daughters fate, Abner and Luna, grieving and guilty for not giving Astrid more attention when it was clear she was unhappy and left out, were never seen again, having banished themselves in their palaces.
As for Astrid, in her vile and forgotten realm, her hatred and anger grew for Zarina. She swore she would get out of there, somehow, someday. And when she did, they would all pay...
