The sound of forks gently clinking against plates is the only sound at the dinner table today. I continued to shove peas and carrots around on my plate, lining them so that they formed little patterns.
"So Ashley.. How was school today?" Mom asked, attempting to make conversation.
"Fine, I guess." I said hoping that I didn't sound bored even though I was, mom frowned slightly and turned to face Dad.
"Robert?"
"Hmm..?"
"Robert." Mom continued to stare at him until he looked up from his finance report, she angled her head towards me and I continued to stare at our extremely fascinating walls.
"Oh right, How did today go, Lee?" Averting my gaze from the wall I helped myself to the potatoes.
Today was a typical day, oh except for you know the fact that I almost crashed and apparently "befriended" the creepy mist which apparently thinks I belong with the green ones! "Today was a good day, only a few teachers gave me homework and I got an A on the bio quiz." Is what I say instead, they smile and switch to the stock market. Excusing myself, I run to my room and flop on the bed, hugging my pillow.
Pulling out Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I sigh at the sensation of it, and bury myself between the familiar pages. It doesn't take my mind off what happened today, what if Mathew hadn't been there? Would I be on the other side? I was afraid to ask the last question, Do I want to be on the other side?
