Chapter one

"Are you really sure about this, Orla?" I nodded and gave my mom's friend a hug. She had been against this from the start so i agreed to her offer of driving me to Portland City. As far back as i could remember my mom had been friends with Aunt Lena . Both worked together in a brothel. We got by fine despite the digs i got at school . That is until my baby brother Joel got sick owing to the  tumor in his brain.

"For baby Joe,besides we dont have many options." I said "its okay, just please take care of them, aunt Lena.
"I will." She said as i exited the car. I waved goodbye to her and quickly entered the building that housed the medical research company without looking back or else i'd be forced to run back.
Ever since the world found out about the experiments those crazy scientists did by splitting human and animal DNA thus creating non humans that came to be knowns as the psybrids, getting some cash through drug trials became dangerous and scary.

As if listening to music which i was not ,i nervously tapped my feet while drumming my hands on my thighs

"Number twenty eight........."

I stood nervously drying my sweaty palms on my skinny jeans stepped past the waiting chairs occupied by all those who had passed the medical tests for drug trials.
Each one intent on reading magazines offered or sitting still. They were playing there last desperate card .This consoled me somewhat because it meant i wasnt the only one in dire need of money. It was a risky situation healthwise but i needed the money ASAP for both me and my baby brother to start life alittle farther from Torn falls, Oregon .

The reception area was spacious with white walls except on one that had the company logo;

Valon medical research.

"Yes,thats me. " I answered. Taking a deep breath, she walked in the direction of the receptionist. With a pale complexion and the greenest eyes that suspiciously looked like contacts, the woman was beautiful. Flaming red hair crowned her head as it tumbled over her shoulders, altogether looking like a model right off a fashion magazine. The only ugly thing about her was her 'slime under my foot expression she had as she looked at me.

"Door number four." She gave me a blue file containing a few sheets of paper that i assumed were my recent test results.
I looked at the door that the receptionist was pointing towards and knew the moment i walked through that door there will be no turning back.I couldn't believe this was my life now.
I opened the door and walked through the silent hallway, the heels of my boots clicking rythmatically against the tiled floor as i progressed looking for door numbered four. Almost towards the end of the hallway i finally reached the door, turned the knobe and entered.

The room was small and nearly empty with a hospital bed on one side and afew medicine bottles sitting on top of a small table.
A middle aged man in a lab coat entered.

"Lie on the bed"he ordered, putting the file aside turned to the table and started tinkering with the needles. My insides shook as mentally reminded myself repeatedly that thousands of jobless people did this.
The pinch of the needle brought me back to my senses. A burning sensation started from my insides but went on building rapidly until i thought i was burning from inside out and then the sensation simply faded away as black spots started dancing in my eye sight . I had been injected before but no injection had ever caused such a sensation. The last thing i saw were two psybrid men entering while man in the  labcoat looked on.

Chapter two.
"Shit." I mattered under my breath watching the red barbie  i met at the reception come back for the thousandth time in my cells where i was restrained against the wall. Every time she came into the room, i had to prepare my self for the next round of pain she inflicted upon me.Her gaze skeemed over me  in excitement.

"The results are now satisfactory." She said in a faulty voice mimicking doctor sullivan the man who had injected me in door number four. "Its time for your death bitch. Lucius is mine."

"And you listen you crazy woman. How many times must i tell i dont know anyone named Lucius?" I pulled on the chains as i prepared to fight uselessly because none of  the self defense  Dean's Dad marion taught me helped one little bit.

Movement  in the entrance of the cell drew my attention  from the  red barbie. Fear made my heart race as doctor sullivan entered the cell with another man wearing a mask.
"Hello, miss price." He chuckled, in his offending robotic sound. "I hear you pissed  off, Tamsin." He placed a medium sized brief case  on top of the exam table  in the  corner . It made a loud thump.

"Let the fun begin." Tamsin grinned manically.

"Shit, shit, shit." I chanted softly as panic seized me. I'd heard  the people in the other cells being tortured. Hours and hours of screaming i supposed  that's  how i sounded too but my torture was doubled since all those whose bodies had rejected  the experiments were transported out via my cell. Now am the only one left.

Jacob cocked his head and continued
