Where I'm from
By: Jordan akins

I am from Providence hospital in anchorage.

I come from animals,
From always having one with me.

I come from memories of picking the strawberries from my papa's garden.
And from pulling carrots out of the ground.
I'm from befriending slugs upon the cabbage and lettuce.

I'm from catching and raising tadpoles with my sister.
Hamsters in a cage, to a ball on the floor.
And a rabbit sharing my carrot.

I got cameras and learned photography from grandpa
Reading from nana
I got singing country songs with my gramma
And I have gardening, from papa
These are and will always be my favorite things.

I'm from Gramma's smoking habits
To Grandma's tough attitude
I'm from my papa having a tumor.
And from my grandpa having memory loss

I'm from moving schools and finding my family that have helped me through alot.
Consisting of a flower, a girl made of coffee grounds.
A boy made of love, a Seward girl,
And my new friend made of flowering art
With many slots open for the future.

I'm from being scared a week before school,
By finding my gramma on the floor of her house, a year ago. She had a stroke the night before.
To having my idol, my grandfather leaving us this year, only 3 weeks past. And my papa leaving us soon.

I'm from scraped knees.
I'm from rocks in elbows
I'm from past friends
And I'm from new friends
