THE JUNG FAMILY HOUSE,
GORYEO,1316.

JUNG EUN-SOO

"Lady!" Uni started excitedly when she rushed into a room used by the women of the household for handworks. Jung Eun-so sat at a corner , trying her hardest at embroidery. She was trying to produce a lotus design on her dangui;a female upper garment worn for ceremonial occasions.

"Yes Uni?"She doesn't look up but continued her work as Uni came to a halt beside her. She kneels and begins to whisper into her lady's ear.

"Lady," She whispers."There is a rumour among the ladies in the market today."

"Listening to rumours again, Uni?"

"Lady I swear, I wasn't. Two women were speaking of it right in front of me that I couldn't help but to hear."

"So you say. What is it you have heard?"

"They were saying that Lord Hong is coming to town this afternoon with his men."

Eun-soo's hands stilled from all movements and she turns to stare into her maids eyes.

"Do you know where it is he is visiting in town?"

"I believe Lord Hong will be visiting the farm house in the north."Uni continues her whispering.

Eun-soo dropped the dangui along with the embroidery needle and stood. The seventeen-year old had a strong affection for her elder brother's friend, Lord Hong Choi, only legitimate son of the minister of finance. The first time she had seen Choi was six years ago, when she was but an eleven year old girl. Her elder brother,Yeo-Rip, brought him to the house to meet the family and ever since then Eun-Soo have developed a tender feeling for him. The both were eight years her senior.

Eun-soo's feelings wasn't entirely hidden from her family and that has caused a saying to be common among the people of the house:if not Hong Choi for Eun-soo, who then are the couple made by the heavens.

If, Choi was heading for the northern farm, Eun-soo reasoned, that could only mean one thing; he wants to meet his friend, her brother. Yeo-Rip was in charge of the Kings farms in the north. He makes sure none of the peasants got away with the king's crops. Every two days he brings updates to the palace.

Not wanting to delay any further before she meets Choi, she devise a plan to meet him there.

"Uni,"She heads for the door, her maid on her trail.

"Yes Lady."

"Tell Aunt to pack lunch for Yeo-Rip and his men. I will take it to them out in the fields."

"B-b-but, Lady...."

"Do as I have said." She said with a final note in her voice as she pushes the door open and waves her maid out before her.
